Spring Classic Tournament

Post  Viewfinder on Tue Mar 09, 2010 1:11 pm

Which 97 teams are playing the Spring Classic tournament over the April 2-4 weekend?

Though the the thought of yet another potential weather cancellation makes us queasy in the decision to come down again, Tulsa TSC 97 Red girls are in. Hoping to meet as many strong Texas teams as we can. Who's coming???

If the weather holds, the strong TX teams you seek should be there, but you may have to play up in the 96s to have a shot at them.

Hmmm, I believe the top 97's played age-true last year in the Spring Classic. Do you think this year would be different from some reason?

correct. no 97's played up last year.

I don't know who is planning on going this year though and the weather could influence decisions especially since last year so many games were decided with pk's, right?

2 of 4 Quarter-Finals, Semi's and Finals were decided by PK's @ Soccer Spectrum.

We were one of the fortunate teams to actually get to play our quarter-final game before the weather got violent. It was so heartbreaking to be forced indoors to shoot Pks on tiny goals when we were playing so well on the field during last years SC. Hoping for another chance.

We will be playing in 97 Gold div. Hopefully Lake Highlands finest will stay true and meet us on the pitch.

Here is a list of 97's

Tulsa Red 97
Dallas Texans North 97
D'Feeters 97
Albion Hurricanes Blue 97
FC Dallas Black 97
Solar 97
TFC 97
National Fusion 97
TFC Blue 97
Sting Blue 97
Revolution Black 97
Texans Red North 97

Sting Royal is playing up. No sign of DTR, Sting Q, Solar Red.

Small field this year not just here but in all the age groups.

How frustrating.

Where WILL Sting Q, SR and DTR be playing this Spring?

96 girls section has list of 96 teams.

The others will probably focus on getting ready for State Cup then a few tournys to try out new players.

Friday April 2nd is a bad weather make up day for our school district. Doesn't Spring Classic typically schedule games during the day that day? How many other schools are going to have school that day due to snow this Winter?

I know they sent out a letter to the coaches/managers asking specifically about school conflicts (supposedly, they are working around that...guess we'll see...).

Yes, they had two for us ('00) during school and 12:00 Final on Sunday (which, it specifically stated that academy won't play on Sunday) - so, for us, we had a triple whammy. It will be interesting how that all unfolds. Dallas Cup conflicts in my household as well - bummer.

The tournament director sent us an email to see if our team would be willing to play on a Thursday night since some of our girls have school on Friday.

Just got an email from our manager. Said we should expect to play 2 games on Friday.
