My theory is:

1) parents tired of not seeing their dd play a specific position.
While I do not agree with walking out on your team mid season much less mid tournmanet, I suspect overpromising and under delivering of coach wore thin.

2) parents tired of watching player misconduct of dd's teammates and MG not voluntarily removing players from games after such conduct and attitude towards officials.

So, with the mid fielder departure from Phoenix, how many 98 players are left on the FCD roster?

Barney, you just won't let go of this, will you?

D1 players receiving disciplinary suspensions and the same team's players also quitting mid season is one of the most controversial events to happen to a 98 D1 team. I cannot recall another D1 team having this type of drama ...... but perhaps you can. Inquiring about a coach's responsibility to his team and the others in the league as to the suspended player's conduct and another player's walking out seems like valid issues to raise. However, ignoring the situation seems like the FCD approach.... or perhaps the coach will blog about it on the the team website! Regardless, I like this team and just want them to play great soccer again so folks like me can discuss the positive aspects of their game and not their drama. That starts w/ the coach and then the parents.

It's easier to ignore when the coach in question is also the director of girls soccer at the club.

That may be true, but how is that relevent to this string of whining...since no one involved in this fits this description. MG is an Academy director, but that's it.
To put this all to rest, so we can all move on to (hopefully) start getting some games in tonight...
1) One player has been suspended for a single game for yellow accumulation. If anyone thinks that this will be the only time this ever happens with a '98 girl, please raise your hand.

2) At FCD 98G practice last night, all hands were on deck. So no one has quit.

3) As most on here know, I am not an FCD apologist, nor am I affiliated with MG in any way. However, I do think that a lot of the anonymous vitriol directed towards this one girl (as well as what gets directed towards a certain TFC 98G player) is pretty sad and seems to me to be a bunch of whiny parents losing sight of the fact that, irregardless of size or speed, these are still 12 year old girls you're talking about. If this were your daughter, would you want someone coming on here spouting of third hand information, or passing personal opinions off as fact, yet hiding behind the anonymity of their user name and their "unnamed" sources?

It's not just the responsibility of the player's team manager to turn in the yellow/red card report, but also the responsibility of the opposing team's manager. So the only way the league would not have record of her card total would be if both team's managers failed to turn in the report. So I'd be fairly confident that the league is aware. Either that or there are a lot (based on your third hand info) of opposing team's managers who didn't want to bother with it.

Also, that third hand is usually the worst hand to be spouting off opinions from.

Nutmeg,

So you know the procedure for reporting yellow cards to the league, but it appears you do not know if the third hand comments that an additional card has been earned (by the FC Grubb player) but failed to be reported by both teams is accurate or not.

Can you or anyone shed light on the oringinal inquiry as to what action the leauge takes when a certain number of cards are given to the same player in 1 season? The more I think on it, do any of you knowledgeable folks know what disciplinary action Lake Highlands League and North Texas Soccer have in place for such type of player misconduct and how is it enforced?

3 yellows = 1 game suspension
5 yellows = 2 game suspension
7 yellows = hearing by A&D board
1 red = 1 game suspension
2 red = 2 game suspension
3 red = hearing
Totals are accumlated via the disciplinary reports turned in from each match in which a card was issued.

Scenario: a player receives 2 yellow cards and is dismissed from an LHGCL game. Is the player required to sit out their next NTX game (tournament or league, whichever comes first), or does the 1-game suspension apply specifically to the next LHGCL game only?

From the NTSSA A&D manual...

Game suspensions for Yellow and Red cards (as set forth above) are to be served by the player/coach/assistant coach at the next scheduled game (including league, playoff, championship, cup, and local or state tournament games) that such individual’s team is involved in. A suspension imposed by these rules shall be recognized by all affiliated organizations after proper notification. The lack of a hearing or referee report on the offense shall not affect such individual’s suspension.

I do not have a 98G but happened to watch FCD play Feet in a tournament a few months back in between one of our games. I noticed one played that seemed to be extremely physical playing for FCD and she finally received a yellow card which I am sure happens from time to time, but what amazed me was her attitude towards the official. I would thought that a 12 year old would be mortified and a little embarrassed by getting a yellow card, but she acted completely the opposite. She had a smile on her face and starting clapping with a look of (finally you gave me one).

According to nutmeg's post, the yellow card accumulation suspension can be served during a tournament game if that is the next scheduled game. If this is the case, then why don't the yellow cards accumulated during the tournaments also count toward the accumulation total?

I would assume that they do, if it's an NTSSA-sanctioned tournament. There may be some bigger, overall A & D policy with US youth soccer, but if there is I am not aware of it.

Nutmeg,

I can appreciate your desire to change topics so I will try to be brief.

1) I raise my hand and say that the FCD 98 suspended player is the only 98 this year who will receive a yellow card accumulated suspension. She has more cards herself than any other team!! Your attempt to downplay this fact ignoring her frequent, intentional conduct and dissent to refs is incredulous. If she is your daughter, player or teammate I urge you to educate her as to appropriate play as she has not been taught same yet. I agree with other posts in this string that her attitude after receiving yellow cards is equally disturbing. Her refusal to acknowldege authority and outwardly defy same begs the question of what her coach and parent will do to change it. So far, they appear to have done nothing to disabuse her of the notion that dissent and intentional fouls are appropriate.

I see your more salient point as what age does repeated, intentional misconduct of a girl soccer player be addressed? I appreciate your implied opinion that 12 is too young for the coach and/or parent to hold her out until her forearm shivers and intentional knockdowns subside, but I respectfully disagree. Rarely is learning to do the right thing considered premature.

I welcome any and all opinions if you think I have missed the mark on suspended player's conduct and my call for her coach and parent to intervene.

2) Good news.

3) criticising the medium doesn't change the message that FCD Grubb ignores. I am sorry that you choose to characterize blunt concerns about intentional misconduct as "whinning" but i suggest if it is your daughter or friend's child receiving hits that have no place in the game, that you may feel differently.
