98 D1 Spring Predictions

Post  barney fife on Sun Feb 14, 2010 11:12 pm

1) what is the first date weather conditions will allow a 98 D1 game to be played?
2) who will be the top 4 teams at the end of the regular season?
3) what team will have the most players not return? and,
4) how many points will be needed to achieve 8th place or better and avoid relegation to Division 2?

IMO.......
1) this week, Saturday the latest
2) Texans for sure and I believe FCDB is the right position to finish top four while other two are wide open.
It could be; (in no particular order)
FEET if they can play to their potential and beat at least 2 of the top 4 teams
FCD if they are just a little bit more consistent beating teams they should beat
STING if they keep playing with great defense
SOLAR RED if they "survive" first 3 games. 1-1-1 wouldn't be bad after week. #3

3)hard to say at this point!

4) 10 should do it, but the issue will be who beats who

we can't wait for season to start!
2)

1. Wed 2/16
2. Texans, FCDG, Sting, FCDB (Texans suffer their first D1 loss to Grubb; Grubb suffers only one loss: Sting continues to mature; FCDB comes down to earth a little.)
3. Both Solar teams
4. 12
One more question to put in the line up. What 2 teams will be dropping? I say FCDW and Solar.

Let's see ..
Most teams will continue to mature ...
The worst two teams will move out ...
The rest remain, swap out players over the summer and we do this again next year ...
Seriously ... It will be a great spring season and I look forward to even better soccer than last Fall !
Best to all teams !!

1. Now that I know better, I would say Thur 2/18 and then we will have a one week break before next games are played.

2. Top 4 teams at the end of regular season will probably be SR, FCDB, Sting and DT (in any order). FCD-Grubb and Feet have legitimate chances to challenge for the top 4, so does FCD White and Solar if they win the games which matter (don't they all matter? )

3. It is hard to tell. With the roster going to 18 next year any turnover can be compensated by 'better' recruiting. Some top tier teams are bound to lose players too but I would say on average will be about 3 players for the top 5 teams and about 5 for the bottom 5 teams.

4. In U-11, FWFC Wht (now Sting West-C) squeaked by with 13pts to avoid relegation which was 2 pts more than Liverpool or 3 pts more than bottom Xcelex. As you can see, 3pts is only one win or loss .
Basically it will come down to who you win or lose against.

1) Thursday night!
2) Texans, Feet, FCD, and FCD Blue
3) Any of the bottom 2-3 teams
4) 12

For the last three completed seasons, the 8th place U12 team has had 14, 13 and 13 points respectively. Looks like it will take at least 12 this season, as long as 7 and 8 don't lose to 9 and 10. 14 appears to be where one can relax a bit. Of course, being at the top of D2 may be more fun than being at the bottom of D1.

2) who will be the top 4 teams at the end of the regular season? Texans, FCDB, Sting, Feet
3) what team will have the most players not return? Grubb just lost a player (core player) and i am sure that will cause a snow ball effect over there. Bottom 2 teams will loose a few players that will want to stay in D1.
4) how many points will be needed to achieve 8th place or better and avoid relegation to Division 2? 12
