No. He can deny a transfer to another select team but not a release to rec. It does not effect ODP at all.

After April 1st they can deny a release. correct?

I'll have to look at the website to be certain, but I believe NTSSA doesn't allow a release to rec after 4/1. So as far as coach approval, it is a moot point.

But if the coach does not or can't after April 1st then they don't have to sign guest player or practice permission forms either. True???
So point is if you are thinking of looking for a new team and you don't want to have your hands tied and be at the mercy of the coach/club then get a release before April 1st.

You are correct. If your dd wants to go, go before April 1 so you won't need to rely on former coach to sign releases for practice and for tourneys.

Or play in rec leagues. If you do this, will not be allowed to play the Competitive Spring league play with any team including your current team. The advantage here is that you can try out a number of teams and play in April - June tournaments before committing again in July.
You can petition NTX for a full competitive release if your dd is playing significantly less than 50%. I "think" however that rosters were locked for the Spring at the end of Jan meaning no team could add you even if you got a full release. So you might check that . If that is true, no point in trying to get the competitive release.
Good luck. We have been through some tough seasons with our dd and there is no right answer. Only the one that works for you and your dd. In our case we stuck out the Spring season but got our rec release (season ended 3/30) by 4/1 and moved on.

Where did you get less than 50%? In LHCL it's less than 10 minutes a half.

Toe,
In LHCL it's 10 min a half? What...please point me to this "rule". LHCL does not grant releases to any players anyway. All release's have to come from North Texas Soccer Assc. not the league you are playing in. NTX soccer will only grant a release if the coach, parent, and player sign the proper paper work. You can petition for a release without the coaches signature and probably be released TO PLAY REC ONLY. This is not a rec league where every dd get's equal play time. That should have been explained to you before you signed your contract.

1st, I was just stating the league the girls were playing in. 2nd, I was stating what was told to others who wanted a release and still play select. 3rd, My DD is happy with the team she is on and the role that she plays. Yes if they want to play rec. they can get a release before April 1st. I just don't see to many coaches signing a release to let thier Ex players play select at this time.

Here are the rules for NTSSA team and player changes. It does state on page 5, release without hearing can be granted after verification of certain issues including Lack of playing time: less than appx 10-12 minutes per game on average.

This should answer some of the questions about the subject.
