Took my dd out there yesterday... It was a nasty, nasty day.... Hopefully it won't be so bad in January.....
Kudos to those girls who did stand out yesterday.... They for sure went to the front of the pack.....
Hand warmers and now foot warmers made it bearable to stand out there....

I thought it was obvious to see that the coaches had all the girls from the first tryout ranked and grouped together by teams A,B, C and so on.... It will be interesting to see how they incorporate the girls who missed the first tryout, who were there yesterday... Definelty some good players in that group... I'm sure there will be more first timers in January as well...

TRUST ME!! ..the teams will change and flip-flop many times before they are decided. ...and then they will change all the they way up to camp time this summer.
...after that it's best if you rent someones trailer or camp in Norman for a week, get up every AM to watch your kid warm-up and practice, then it's common place to follow them from field to field ( in 102 degree weather) ...IF that doesn't work try, gripping and groaning till they can't tolerate your antics and finally move you kid to a different team.

..All I'm saying is this is a VERY political enviroment. I would look at ODP as the cheepest place to get an extra skills class in. Smile

So how did the rankings relate to the groups, which color was A,B,C, etc...

I thought there was some duplication of colors as well just due to the sheer number of dd's present. Plus there were a large number of first-timers that seemed to be doing somehting different from the ones for whom this was their second session. I am certain the next session will be divided much differently.

No doubt. There was no shortage of staff out there with their clip boards and pens at the helm. I have not seen the political side of this thing yet and so far have had a great experience with the program.

My take from last year : the girls that were seen in previous weeks are grouped together then subdivide. ..The new girls whom last Sat was their first session will be divided off ...for evaluation. From those groups they will then be divided again. ..then again ...then again. They keep reposistioning girls to see who works well with whom.

It's waaay to early in the '98 ODP year to get worried about what team your kids on. Nine times out of ten she will fip-flop teams before they send out letters.

No doubt you're right, however, they did say that letters will go out a week after the early January Tryout.... I fight it "impressive" that they feel they can get well over 200 dds down to 72 in only 3 tryouts... But that's what they get paid for...

HOPE for your sake they do!! But don't hold your breath. Last year we were told similiar things. ...letters were sent out MAYBE 10 days prior to leaving for camp. (I think there will also be another try out in the Spring for those that miss this winter, thus changing the dynamics of things again) You will recieve a letter stating that your dd did or did not make the pool. But, team color assignment won't go out till the week before camp.

..NOT trying to trash the ODP process. last year I asked ALOT of the same question that you'98 parents are asking this year and NOONE would really speak on it. ...So these are MY opinions and experiences. Hope they help some.

Good stuff... Thanks!

So you're saying that the first letters they send in January are for making the Pool or not and then later in the Spring, there will be another letter stating which team the dds are on for the Camp in OK?
