The Guts and Glory Academy Challenge 2012 is coming to Five Star Complex and Blue Sky The Colony again this year.

U7/U8 will be 8v8, U9 is 9v9, U10 is 11v11

Cost for U9 is $400, Early Registration Discount of $25 if registered by May 31st, 2012. Final Deadline is June 10th.

Not a huge turn out for Guts and Glory. But a decent tournament.

I think in about a month or so things will start changing a bit when the age group moves up to 11 v 11. Right now you have teams playing 11v11 as well as 9v9 but soon they will all be back on the same fields again. This weekend is a prime example, you had Fever & Whelan in the finals of the 11v11, Dalglish won the 9v9, Scarfone made the semi's of the U10 Flamefest, and there were a bunch of other 03's scattered around in different tournaments. Should be fun to watch the teams start moving to 11v11 (although I personally think 9 & 10 year olds playing on the big fields generally equals bad soccer but that's just my opinion) and everyone being in the same tournaments.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the teams are all on the 11v11 fields playing more as a 03 group. I enjoy seeing my DDs team play on 11v11 as opposed to 9v9. They seem to play the field better and have more space to work the ball down the field. Fall will bring changes for many of the teams that haven't been playing 11v11. Should be fun!
