    Try To Get Something Going

Post  Guest on Thu Oct 01, 2009 8:47 am

I took a look at the current top 10 teams in D1 and I tried to take an educated guess as to where the teams may end up at the end of the Fall Season.... Let me know what you think:

    Team-Currently-Points-Predicted Points-Predicted Finish

    Texans-1-12- 30 - 1
    Sting - 2- 12 - 30 - 2
    Stangs FC - 3 - 10 - 21 - 7
    Royal - 4 - 9 - 25 - 6
    Solar Red - 5 - 9 - 27 - 3
    Solar Blue - 6 - 9 - 13 - 10
    Feet - 7 - 9 - 20 - 8
    Solar - 8 - 7 - 26 - 5
    TexansNorth -9 - 7 - 9 - 11+
    TFC - 10 - 7 - 14 - 9
    -

Team I expect to finish in the top 10: FC Dallas with 27 predicted points and 4th place at the end of the Fall...

Surprise team I think has a chance if someone slips: Meja Blue with 10 predicted points...

    Tell me what ya think.....

I would agree on Meja but they better get rolling soon if you have them finishing in the top 10. The positive side is they have already played several of the top teams so that is out of the way. I also agree with you on the Mustangs. I think they are a good team but will fall a little from where they are now based on who they finish up the fall schedule with. They have some very tough teams toward the end of the fall.

SoccerSounder, You see any big surprsises at the bottom of the standings or is that how you thought they would be. Seems to be a lot of lop sided scores on the bottom. Could be a long season for a few teams.

At the moment I think Genesis is a tad lower than I expected. Also, I think the Texas Mustangs will up a few spots as the Fall moves along... I still think FC Dallas East has a monster schedule over the last 5 games and will drop down some....

He has Solar moving up three spots from their current spot to #5 by the end of fall. I personally think they will end up a little higher but that is my opinion.

I'm not a betting dude but like the predicted finish. The only thing is our goal from day one has been top 5 so somewhere along the schedule the Stangs will have to find a way to make it happen. Some teams draw up when they see Solar, Royal, and Texans but I have to say that we are looking forward to the remaining games. No pressure at all their too busy having fun.

Hey KatCon- if a team qualified in the second week of the QTs don't you think that they will loose the majority of the games against the true DI teams that made the first week...In theory all the teams that made the second week are DII and by all rights should loose to higher teams..If your team was ranked 18th starting the season it is a good guess that your team will loose 17 of your games the first season..If your team was not in DIII you may understand how tough the competition is in DI..I'm sure the wins you guys are getting down in DIII make your parents happy for the moment but do you think that playing DIII teams and winning prepares you for the the tougher copmetition in years to come..I would compare it to scrimmaging your 99 team against 2000 teams to get ready for the 99 season ..probably not going to get you where you want to be..and get a new avatar I am tired of looking at that lego soccer player before I have my lego ninja hunt down your soccer player next... lol!

    legoK,

Out of the 13 teams that qualified for D1 the first weekend, which 3 are not "true D1 teams"? Or in your plastic mind does D2 really only have 7 teams.

In my plastic mind I believe the teams that made on the first weekend are true DI teams with exception of the three lowest teams that did make that first weekend...teams 1-10,in the pre season rankings, are really DI teams the next 10 are actually DII teams for the moment.. in my plastic mind the bottom two teams will drop from the super group down to DIII, at the end of Spring, and the top two from DIII will move up to DII-It is just rediculous for a DIII parent to come on here and down talk teams that are fighting the fight that has been given them to fight when their team was not even talented enough to make the top seed in DIII-

I think you will be surprised that the top 10 you refer to will not be the top 10 that finish the D1 schedule. There will be at least two teams that qualified in the second week of QT that will finish in the top 10 at the end of the year showing that sometimes you might not play up to your potential at the QT and you just have to prove it in regular league play. I think there are a few teams that have already made a statement that they deserve to be there.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. It does make one wonder though. For instance FC Dallas started in # 2, so a true D1 team, (by plastic logic) but are now # 11. DTR started # 10 but is now # 13 so another "true D1", but Solar Blue who started # 14 but is now # 5 and DTN who started # 12 but are now # 10, don't belong with "true D1 teams"?

TAP THE BRAKES, LegoKilla ... You will be in DII soon enough.
Line up any of the top 5 DIII teams and you will have your hands full, as you'll find out next year.

I can dig what you're saying, but consider the brackets some teams had during QT. To be fair you'd have to admit that some teams had a more difficult path to D1 than others. There were teams who didn't qualify during the first week but did during the second week winning by more goals against the same team that a first week D1 qualifier beat. That presents a flaw in your logic. I'll go a step further by saying that outside of a couple of teams that win convincingly each time, a lot of the matches are decided by only a goal or two; that includes some rump shakin' among top 10 teams too.

I like the fact that there's a good chance some of the teams ranked among the top 10 at the beginning of the season will fall to the bottom half of D1 before it's all said and done. Even elitists will have to concede at the end of season one that some of the underdogs are good enough to hang with the usual suspects.

I think there are some excellent D3 teams as well; Sting Waldrum, Texas Spirit, and FDC Rudd to name a few. Suspect

Some HOT sports opinions...... Just having a blast with the 10 year olds....... Almost anything can happen...I watched a D1 team who had giving up 20+ goals while scoring none beat a top tier team 1-0...
RUMPILICIOUS btw...... Need help building the arc for this week.... : affraid afro
