There ought to be a mercy rule for some of these 99 teams just completely out matched seemingly every week. How good can it be for the sport when girls play for a team that is getting beat like some of these teams are. Example Genesis team has played 5 games and allowed 23 goals with 1 scored. Is 20 teams in D1 really effective for the top teams or lower end teams if these are going to be the scores. The top teams are not being pushed playing these type of games and the teams like this one cannot be really getting any better having to play these type of teams.

Which is exactly why I said prior to QT that this would not be a very good decision by Lake Highlands...instead of getting two quality matchups against other top 10 teams, all of the top teams will play 10+ games against teams that just won't be competitive

Look at last year's 98 scores for the D1 games...there wasn't a single blowout like the 99 teams are seeing this year

And for what? To allow 20 teams to say that they are "division one" teams for a single season?

I get that the battle for 8-12 will be tight and it is like that every single year, but putting 20 teams in D1 for one season is not the answer

All this did was water down the first season for all of the teams and set up matchups that should have never happened that are endign with 9-0 and 8-0 results, which aren't fun for either side of the blowout

The Spring will be the flip side of the Fall and be very interesting. The goal was to get the right teams in D1 for year two... I think that will happen. The boys do it.... Actually, I was against it, but it's not that bad. Genesis will get their wins between now and April...

You can say that it may be better in Fall but doesnt change that it has to demoralize girls to get beat like that game after game. You have to wonder what kind of condition they will be in when they start the next 8 games. Psychy is a big thing at this age.

Good point, it will be a fine line to keep some of the teams on the same page going into the Spring. But a team like Genesis, while unhappy now, could very well win 6 or so games in the Spring and the parents would be very excited going into year 2. No two ways about it, losing games 5-0 or even 9-0 sucks. We have been on teams on the wrong side of those games. But this is Select Soccer and don't think anyone can say they are surprised about how things are going so far. Plus, we get to see things like the Revolution upsetting a top team....

Well has anyone asked FC Dallas how they felt about playing a "bottom 10" team? More of a risk for the top 10 teams, if they win-- they were supposed to win, if they lose-- what the hell happened?!?

I believe it will all work out by the Spring

Still a long ways to go.. its more entertaining than watching the Cowboys..

Listen, there is no real "bottom 10 teams"..... this is North Texas Soccer and behind maybe Southern Cal it would be considered one of the best hot beds for soccer in the US. Even in D3 LHGCL you are still way above most of the country when it comes to girls soccer. It appears Revolution did what it took to win a game, congrats to them (I didn't actually see the game but it sounds like they found the net one more time....). I don't know what the big deal everyone is making...there is a lot of time left for teams to prove themselves. And for the record, I don't put any weight in the "rankings" until after the 6th game of the spring season...

I've been on a posting "diet" and will go back to starvation mode now....

We are hanging just outside of the top ten but the schedule for the Spring should even out the bad start we've had to the Fall.

As Auto said, until halfway through the Spring season, this doesn't show much except who had a hard schedule to start out with.

But while we're at it, predictions to make the "drop" to D2? (And if you mention us I'll elbow you in the back of the head while "accidentally" slipping on the wet grass at Moss!)
