Which Sting teams will make Lake Highlands

Post by Guest on 16/06/13, 10:20 am

Besides the obvious choices (Sting G, West, Hilton and Goodman) which other Sting teams will qualify for Lake Highlands? Sanchez has to tighten down what use to be Parker's ship, but has the talent. Next up seems to be Sting Larry (formerly TFC). I think Skaife (0-1-5 in their last two tournaments) and Garrett end up on the outside looking in. Thoughts?

Watched Sting(Skaife) play this weekend. They lacked a lot of ball control and goals.  I don't believe the team has scored a goal in over 6 months.  Without scoring they don't have a chance to make LH.  Maybe they can turn it around this coming weekend.

I checked their PrimeTime Club League results for the spring, in 8 games played, they scored 1 goal. And I think in their last 6 tournament games played, they scored 1 goal as well. If you are not a threat to score, you are probably not a threat to make LH.

Re: Which Sting teams will make Lake Highlands

I have a daughter that plays on a 01 Sting team and the word is that they added ~8-9 new players and really haven't had a chance to gel yet. One of the parents told me they were missing 3 key players last weekend and haven't had the full "new" team play together yet. I haven't seen the Scaife team play in a game but was beside them during a practice last week and they looked to have speed and athletes all over the field. Still a lot of time until qualifying and they could prove to be a very difficult team to beat. Too soon to say.

I'm not sure turning over half your roster a month before qualifying is a path to success - unless you are adding girls who were more talented than what you had before. The results from the last two tournaments lead me to believe that is not the case with Skaife. But they could prove me wrong.

Any news on how Sanchez is doing with the old Parker team?

Sting Hilton and Sting Guitierrez qualified for D1 this weekend.

Sting Skaife, Sting Sanchez, Sting West, Sting Goodman, Sting Larry and Sting Garrett all moved on to the 2nd weekend. Sting West not qualifying for D1 on the first weekend might be considered the only major surprise. They are probably a good bet to qualify for D1 this weekend. Sting Goodman would be a good bet to be a D1 qualifier this weekend as well. Skaife and Sanchez could make a run at D1, but I think right now both are probably solid D3 contenders.

Sting East Gray and Sting Central Cuevas did not move on to LHGCL qualifying.

Actually that would be 10 teams X 16 players X $2800. Comes out to a whopping $448,000. That's just for their '03 teams people. Holy cow.

Exactly...Most likely too many other people actually knew about this one and the 'powers that be' could no longer look the other way...

Plus they (and the rest) skim off uniforms and tournaments,
and tournaments and never ending tournaments......the whole thing is one huge money grab....just nuts...Texans must be pulling in at least $15million a year....

so last year my grandson's team goes to Oklahoma City for one of these never ending b/s 'tournaments', makes it to the final, and plays another team from the same Dallas area club...a team they share the same practice field with..!!..a team they regularly scrimmage against, in the Dallas area...!!except now they travel to Ok City to play them..all to 'win' a $3.00 trophy...madness.

So the final tally comes down to Sting G, Sting Hilton, Sting Goodman (could be D1 or D3, but will know soon enough), Sting West, Sting Skaife and Sting Larry all making Lake Highlands. Sanchez probably would have gotten in except for that little ineligible player episode. Overall the teams performed close to what everyone expected I think.

Sting Garrett should have made it in. They are a Solid team.
Watch for them... they will be back.

It was a pleasure watching STING CENTRAL- SKAIFE And STING NORTH- LARRY

both of those teams scrapped their way into LH

Skaife really came on strong this last month. Very impressed. They weren't just trying to scrap their way into D3 - they were trying to scrap in to D1. And they had a shot.

Having watched them play I believe they will be a better fit in D3
