I have always been a CP fan. But throwing together a team 1 week before signing? I say show him a little respect.

Most players have already committed to a roster spot. To run out on Thursday to go to a new team with 0 players would be foolish.

That leaves players who still do not have a team or who might be in fear of sitting the bench. To give CP straggler players for a first team -(if you are able to even pull enough stragglers together) is a dis-service to this great coach. Why not go for 04s and save 03s for next year at an appropriate time?

3 or 4 weeks ago, it would have worked...but IMO it's too late now.

I would disagree, there are plenty of "starting" players that would jump at the chance to play under such an accomplished coach…

If  they run paral1el practices with Solca and Missimo with Byars doing agility training IMO that would be a major bonus!
Sounds like an environment of TRUE DEVELOPMENT!

Sounds like a sales pitch we have all heard before. New coach, train with SRSA, blah blah blah...  Does DM get a prize for his 100th screen name / avatar creation with this one?

Along what H-girl said: bring in Pulp 3 months ago, you would have had a top 5 team, bring him in 3 weeks ago, you could have held/pulled together a good top 15 team. The week before signing... not gonna happen, unless there is an 03 team ready to walk on their current club...Suspect

It will be fun to watch whatever the case.

Agree 100%.
Time to pull the plug on this dead horse.
They hyped up Canaveri and he lasted five minutes, they hyped up Gio and he lasted even less; now they are spinning the same pitch with CP as the latest stooge.
"Train alongside SRSA !! Just by being on a field next to them, their greatness will rub off on your daughter, we promise! Please sign here for a full year"!

Post by mad-baller 23/06/13, 04:29 pm

coach is at tournament for old club til wednesday - so must be no no  to talk new options at new club while still wearing old club jersey.
he is no longer listed as dir of coaching at old club - so seems to be true
timing does suck - maybe he joins on Thursday and Solar is trying to see what level of '03 interest they can get before he's offically on board - they dont have other 03 teams who can host a practice without the coach - yes makes sense for SRSA machine to rally
If anyone wanted to try to make a team in 4 days, these would be the guys to actually try (AS DM CP)
If your promising kid can't find a team your happy with by 7/1 - is it worth taking a look?
I have heard nothing negative on this guy - cant say that for the coaches still looking for players
How many good kids get stranded every July 1 - guess they all come here?
Whats the deadline for LHGCL qualifier roster submission?
I bet the team makes late and those girls develop better than anywhere

So I guess I'm confused a little bit. Is this going to be a brand new team OR is CP going to take over SRSA 03 team minus the two that are rumored to be playing up OR is the majority of the SRSA 03 going to take over the 02 Gio or Colvin slot that supposedly imploded and leave a handful of girls to start up a new team under CP?

I think I need the ghost of Tim Ruessert to bring out a white board and post updates as to what the :heck is going on over at SRSA in the 03 age group:)

Good luck to CP, he's a great guy and a good coach.

Now let's move this recruiting post over to the teams looking board and off the main board.

he is no longer listed as dir of coaching at old club - so seems to be true
timing does suck - maybe he joins on Thursday and Solar is trying to see what level of '03 interest they can get before he's offically on board - they dont have other 03 teams who can host a practice without the coach - yes makes sense for SRSA machine to rally
I bet the team makes late and those girls develop better than anywhere

http://www.girlsclassicleague.com/

Key dates:
• July 9 – Registration closes 5pm, all payments are due. Preliminary Roster Due.
(Preliminary roster can be from GotSoccer or a NTX Roster - does not need to be signed) Please use upload link to send your roster.

• July 15th - Official Rosters due to LHGCL using upload link. (Please note official NTX Roster must be signed by both registrar and coach)

• July 16 – MANDATORY QT manager/coach meeting, Hyatt Richardson I-75 and
Campbell Road, 7pm

July 19 – 5pm, Rosters will be frozen, no additional changes will be allowed
• July 23 – Tournament begins (Be prepared to play on weeknights)

If Pulp's older girls were not doing so well in Regionals he would be here today.

The fact is if you have a DD who can play at a good level, has the desire to play at a great level and wants to be coached by one of the best in NTX who provides true development, then this is a team worth checking out.

There are several top players that are "in" because they clearly see what an incredible opportunity this is!

July 1st is not a mandatory signing date, there is still time to pull together talented players who seek a unique environment!

I am really blown away by all of this.  The past 96hrs have been pretty un-Pulpanek like or at least not the actions of the person I believe him to be.  This last ditch effort to put together an '03 team a week before signing seems a bit of a team/money grab and doesn't befit a coach of his caliber.  There is plenty of time to build an '04, '05, etc to go along with his '00 and '98 teams.  Why try to jump into the '03 swamp now?  Does he really 'need' another team?  Coaches of his caliber don't usually 'need' teams so this one really throws me off.  They certainly don't like to have parents who would renig on a commitment that was previously made and who in the world wants to be on a team full of parents that renigged on a commitment a week before signing.

Something smells here.  Everything I've seen and heard of/from Pulp screams top-notch in regards to coaching and character but something is wrong here.

There has to be a better explanation than 'the '03 world needs me so here I come'

So you are saying there's more to the story?

I'm sure money has something to do with it, I mean the DOC at a club makes more than a coach with two teams. Only makes sense that in order for him to come over they would have to make it financially worth his while, so one way to do that is to give him another select team to coach. Well Solar doesn't really have any other select teams to give him so why not try to make another one off the SRSA name (Gio obviously didn't work out) and give it to CP.

Now if they would have had CP when they made the GIO team that team could have been pretty good by now. Just going to be hard to throw something together this late in the game when other top teams are actively looking.

Honest question, would you rather pay 3k to play on a team that's been together less than a month come qualifying or stay with your current team or possibly try out for some of the other top teams looking for players like LP Elite, Sting G, or FCD Gold? I don't really have an answer but you can see that it's not going to be as easy as some folks think to just magically materialize a D1 team in the matter three and a half weeks. I have no doubt they will get enough to make a team but just what you will actually end up with is a total crap shoot. At the very least they will be well coached though.

Ahhh.... A person who I don't know but I have come to respect from your many posts.  This most recent post only furthers the respect.  I know your questions were more rhetorical (except the first one...which was direct) but I will answer them as if they were directed at me.

A1.  Yes I think there is more to the story?  Some of it I can piece together other parts baffle me.  I also believe you are 100% spot on with your observation regarding salary and reasons for trying to get another team as I arrived at the same conclusion.  I then asked aloud WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU NOT HAVE NEGOTIATED IN A LARGER SALARY SO YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO GO MESSING YOURSELF BY LOOKING FOR AN '03 team 1 WEEK BEFORE SIGNING!!!  I don't know if CP did or didn't negotiate a better or equal salary but the actions he has taken regarding this '03 leads me to believe he didn't.

A2.  Me personally....I don't have top team-'itis'....never have / never will.  Until u15 if you see me or one of my DD's at a tryout best believe it has nothing to do with the teams win/loss record.  It's the coach I'm seeking and something in my research led me to believe that he meets the criteria for the next phase of her journey.  Therefore of your 3 options I would go with 'stay with current team'.

I also believe they will get enough to make a team but I still shake my head at the reasoning.
