Gopher- can you create a formula to provide an accurate preseason poll based on the results from this weekend...I would suspect a reshuffling of the TOP 10.

Don't really think there would be much of a reshuffling. Id still say SRSA is clearly #1, LP Elite would probably be my number 2 and then take your pick between Sting G, DTS, and FCD Gold and I don't think anyone is really going to argue one way or another.

There's still a clear seperation between those 5 and the next group. However I think that is generally what you see in the FBR week after week.

Should make it a fun season and I'm curious how next week will go for some of these teams.

Sorry. Outside of tracking how the final pre-QT rankings predicted LHGCL qualifiers, and then how the final pre-QT FBR ends up correlating to U11 final standings, I'm finished with the '03's.

If anyone other than myself is counting...

FBR - 11 out of 13 week 1 qualifiers correct = 85%
QT Seeding - 10 out of 13 week 1 qualifiers correct = 77%

Okay this is tentative and my best guess as to next weekends brackets. Now I didn't check for teams in weekend 1 being in the same brackets as weekend 2. This is solely going off points the lovely S system LHGCL uses.

S1-
Sting Goodman- 22pts
Triumph FC- 12pts
Evolution FC- 10pts
TX Lightening- 3pts

T1-
Odyssey- 21pts
Sting Garrett- 13pts
Warriors- 10pts
Tx Spirit- 4pts

U1-
Stings West- 20pts
Cosmos Black- 16pts
Sparta FC-10pts
Ayses Gold- 4pts

V1-
FCD Red- 20pts
Sting Skaife- 16pts
DT South Red- 9pts
FCD Blue- 4pts

W1-
Sting Sanchez- 19pts
FWFC Black- 16pts
FWFC White- 9pts
Andro- 8pts

X1-
FCD Blue- 19pts
Solar Armstrong 17pts
Andro Red- 9pts
GSSC Thunder- 8pts

Y1-
Rush- 18pts
Mutiny- 18pts
Mustangs- 9pts
Sting Larry- 9pts

lovesoccer and bigdad,

If LHGCL follows the same methodology that they did for the '00's-'02's, week 2 brackets should be the following:

S1-
Mutiny
Andromeda
Sparta
Tx. Spirit

T1-
FCD Red
Triumph
DT South Red
AYSES

U1-
Dallas Rush
FCD South Blue
Evolution
Sting North Garrett

V1-
FWFC Black
Sting Central Skaife
GSSC Thunder Black
Sting North Larry

W1-
Sting Goodman
Cosmos Black
Mustangs
Tx. Lightning North

X1-
Sting West
Sting Central Sanchez
FCD Blue
Andromeda Red

Y1-
Odyssey
Solar Chelsea Armstrong
Warriors
FWFC White

Now with that said, I've been hearing rumors regarding changes to the U11 seeding/format, but haven't really seen anything all that different from the past 3 years yet. So it wouldn't be a complete surprise if the week 2 brackets look different.

Gopher,

Not that is matters for any of my dd's (older & younger then '03) do they not do the S grid (starting with highest points)?

That is not how they've done it the past 3 years. Go look at post #13 from this thread where I describe how it's been done.

http://www.txsoccer.net/t17298-qt-brackets-posted

Now, LHGCL could always decide to change things up this year, but this is how it was done for the '00's-'02's.

Didn't get to watch DTS vs. Suarez--It was too hot

Sparta vs DTS was just a good game overall. Both teams played hard. no packing in the box

Sparta and FCD Suarez are both good teams. I would go to say that this bracket was the most competitive of the first weekend.

If you go by the FBR (which seems more reliable than the LH committee) you would be correct that Pool B was probably the toughest (although the games shouldn't have been as close as they were for DTS).

If you just take the ranking of seed #2 and seed #3 in each of the pools and throw out the 4th seeds then Pool B (DTS) had the strongest grouping of teams, followed by Pool D (LP Elite), Pool I (LP Rush) and Pool L (DT Moreno, #2 seed).

By the numbers Pool F was the weakest. The combinded team ranking of Pool B (seeds #2 & #3)was 44 and the combined team rankings of Pool F was 71. Pool G was the second easiest with a combined ranking of of 67.

To give you a better idea, the combined rankings of teams 2 & 3 in a pool should equal 53 so any number below 53 means it was stronger than what it should be (at least according to the FBR) and any number higher than 53 means it was much weaker than it should be.

Now at least according to the FBR rankings, Pool J was the most even (Sting H) followed closely by Pool H (LP Barnes).

All of this means absolutely nothing, just something fun to look at. All that really matters is did your team beat the teams they had to play, everything else was completely out of your hands.

Sparta and Suarez played strong against DTS?  or did DTS just have an off week?

Re: Final Results/Moving On

Post by GrandTXSoccer on 29/07/13, 12:06 pm

I think probably a combination of both from the feedback I received. The few comments I heard was that DTS looked out of sync and that Sparta played one heck of a game. Haven't really heard anything about the DTS/FCD game. My comment was more based on the fact that if you are the #2 seed you should probably win these games (even though they were statistically the toughest) by a bigger margin that 1-0, 1-0. However it really doesn't matter what the final score was as long as you win all your games and that's what they did so the rest doesn't really matter. If you have an off weekend and can still pull out the wins then all the more power to you.

All my post was about was adding a little context to what Herradura said about it being the toughest pool and then while I was sitting on a conference call I got bored and looked at the rest of the pools Smile

I stopped by to watch the DTS-Sparta and also the SRSA-Triumph game on the next field (SRSA game got old pretty quick) on the way to watch FCD-Stoke City. Sparta was under a lot of pressure from DTS speed, but played really well, especially on defense, to stay in the game. The only goal came from a shot from about 20-25 yards out that bounced once over the goalies head in the last quarter of the game. Unlucky, but that is part of the game.

Looks like Lee Weddall blowing up his daughter's team in an attempt to make them LHGCL quality didn't work too well...0-3 with no goals scored.

Awwwww.......

And the way they are playing, they're APL bound. That's gotta be a blow to LW's ego.

Uh??? Are you talking about Shankley? Pretty sure they were around the 50 or so rank prior to Doyle leaving so them not making LHGCL isn't much of a shocker. Hell I kind of applaud the guy for not forcing the sport on his DD and just letting her play, most parents could learn something from him in this regard.

But let me get this straight, you are happy that his daughters team didn't qualify? Man that must suck to be you if you are happy that a 10 year old failed at something. Ok, well go back to your daily activity of kicking puppies and drowning kittens.

You are an idiot.

That team will have the best coach in APL or PPL, and be a great place to develop as a 10 yr old - furthermore, they will not have to put up with jackwagon parents like you.
