Week 1 LH DI

Post by GrandTXSoccer on 21/08/13, 02:06 pm

Man it's been quiet around here lately. I figured with the first week of a new league starting up folks would be talking much more.

I figured we might as well have some fun and make some predictions on the games.

DTS vs Sting West - 2-0 DTS, DTS played well last weekend in Edmond so maybe whatever was ailing them in QT's has passed.

FCD Gold vs Cosmos - 3-1 Gold, FCD is one of the better offensive teams in the age group and I think their speed up top will be tough for Cosmos to match. Should be a good game though, just think Gold will be too much for them in the long run.

LP Elite vs FWFC Black - 2-0 LP Elite, I would imagine this will be the typical Elite game, enough scoring to get the job done and enough defense to keep FWFC from scoring. Nothing flashy.

FCD Prem vs FCD South Suarez - 1-1, one of the possible upsets this weekend. Every week I'm going to give Suarez a punchers chance in every game they play.

Sting G vs FCD Red - 2-0 Sting G, this will actually be the best test Sting G has faced since signing day (not counting scrimmages) and I expect for them to be the same Sting G team we've seen in the past.

Dfeeters vs Andromeda - 1-0 DFeet, for two straight weeks Andromeda played some great defense, not giving up a goal to anyone not names SRSA. This is another that has potential for an upset.

LP Barnes vs F ever Black - 2-2, should be a very good game, would be one of the few to show up and watch just the sidlines.

LP Rush vs DT Moreno - 2-1 DT Moreno, another really evenly matched game.

Sting Hilton vs LP Keegan 1-0 Hilton, I've been impressed with how both of these teams have fallen and then picked up new coaches and both seem to be on an upward tick right now. Should be a very evenly matched game, but the Hilton offense seems to be a little bit further along right now. Pretty much a toss up

SRSA vs Warriors - 8-0 SRSA, all I can say to the Warriors is this is like yanking off the band aid quickly vs a slow steady pull. Get it over quickly. Now I am curious as to who all will be playing for SRSA this year, I keep hearing that there are girls that are playing up and then I hear that it's the same roster as always.

There's a reason things have been so quiet on here, and it's cause there isn't anything worth talking about anymore. Predictions like this are given up once the girls start select, just as tunnels and snacks are once the girls move on from U8 Rec. From here on out no really cares about predicting games, all is proven on the fields, no guests, just the girls that signed, so just sit back and let things flow in the natural order on the pitch. It's time to stop being intrusive, smack talking parents, and it's time to start enjoying the matches. Most of all it's time to start using a public forum like this for what is should be used for and that's a place to gather for a source of information. In other words, like the LHGCL board & refs say in a much nicer way. Sit on the sideline, shut up, and watch the game.

I'd actually counter and say that predictions when they are in academy are much, much worse than having some fun now that have gone select. That would be like saying it cool to make predictions about Tball and machine pitch but once they get to player pitch you don't care anymore.

I'm not going to be out there yelling and screaming so I guess that means I can make as many predictions as I want. Smile Plus, if you are truly using this site or "information" then you've got problems. Most of the crap that is on these boards is club bashing, coach bashing, and recruiting posts. Personally I find the other stuff far more entertaining.

Looks, like quite a few of the other age groups need to be told that predictions are only for academy aged teams.

DTS (1) vs Sting West (0)  -  West plays to the level of their competition more than any team I've ever seen.  This should be close and I wouldn't be surprised if it ended in a tie

FCD Gold (4) vs Cosmos (0) -  Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.  FCD punches early then often.

LP Elite (2) vs FWFC Black (0) -  Nickname'em the San Antonio spurs.  They aren't pretty nor exciting but they get the intended results.  Slow and steady.

FCD South Suarez (2) vs FCD Premier (0) - FCDSS is a team that can play with a chip on their shoulder and will likely be 'kickin' it into overdrive to run the 'premier' out of FCD's name.

Sting G (3) vs FCD Red (0) - The rumors of Sting G's demise were greatly exaggerated.  She only needs 12 and she has'em.

Feet (0) vs Andromeda (0) -  Andromeda can defend and Feet has trouble scoring.  I'm calling this a tie.

F ever Black (1) vs LP Barnes (0) -  This one could go either way but I've picked my one tie for the week above.  F ever has the great equalizer.

LP Rush (1) vs DT Moreno (0) -  I haven't seen much of DT Moreno so I'm going simply off LP Rush's ability to counter attack.  If DT attacks early then that plays into LP's hand.

Sting Hilton (2) vs LP Keegan (0) -  The last time these two teams met Sting won going away.  Both teams have improved since that meeting.

SRSA (6) vs Warriors (0) -  AS / DM won't pile on the points against a team called 'Warriors'.  There is nothing to be gained there.

Two realities for you sports fans:

The only thing worth predicting is the over/under for the SRSA game. I say that line is should be 9 this week.

You crystal-meth-ball idiots really don't have a clue about any team except the team your DD is on.

Oh wise one, you are probably correct. If only these teams were required to play in a tournament style format to qualify for the league. If they would of done that, people would of seen the teams with all of the new additions. But, since that is not required, you are correct. Or another idea, they should create a tournament named after an Egyptian king / mummy and we could all get a good look at the teams in said tournament. But that would never happen....

Please enlighten us further with your vast amount of soccer knowledge.

- SRSA will hit ddouble digits, even if trying not to.
- Sting G victory will only be a one point delta, possibly a tie.
- DT Moreno vs LP Rush will also be close, but I have Moreno squeaking by

that rhymed a little

Only in Texas can a Sting G victory be a tie.

Whatever the outcome "crystal meth hallucination" or not, it will be nice to see how these teams have gelled and developed or not developed since signing.

There will probably be some slow starts for those who have not seen real game action since QT, but hopefully we will start seeing some quality soccer from the D1 group as a whole rather than the kickball / run fast mentality that got many of the teams to this point...

You don't think that some teams have added or dropped players since qualifying? If you say no, then you just proved my point that you only know the team your DD is on.

With the exception being SRSA, every team in this age bracket has their fair share of kickball moments in every game they play.

SRSA is the ONLY team that fully understands possession and all others are just STARTING to get it. Plenty of your top 10's play kickball, they just happen to play it better than others so it LOOKS like possession soccer.

That's some reality for you over-proud parents.

I agree with both of you Fans.  I use "quality" loosely when referring to 10-11 year olds soccer style. SRSA clearly above everyone, some teams trying to work on possession style and yet the many others still focusing on kick it to win it. No argument here.
