Texans Fall Festival Predictions Empty Texans Fall Festival Predictions

Post by herradura 19/11/13, 09:07 am

Not that it is going to happen with the weather coming in BUT, there needs to be some topic of discussion for the week- so here we go...

Bracket A
Cosmos - Strong league play climbing to #10 D1 spot - could be a spoiler
DT 03 - Strong league play, weak tournament showing last weekend - can they rebound to make it out of bracket play?
DT Red South - Ripping up Arlington Premier League this season - could make some games interesting
Sting 03 - Steady season so far, should cruise through bracket play with little resistance.

Bracket B
DT South - Couple of late season draws, but a rest last weekend should have them fresh and ready to kill the bracket
Sting Hilton - Solid team, tough draws this tournament may prevent wildcard spot
Sting Skaife - This will be one of those "learning experiences" for Skaife

Bracket C
FCD Premier - I like Premier to upset Elite. Notorious for interesting tournament rosters, who's playing?
LP Elite - Strong, steady but have to get by Premier
Mustangs - Killing Plano Premier - could make some games interesting

Semis:
Bracket A #1 - Sting 03
Wildcard - LP Elite

Bracket B#1 - DT South
Bracket C #1 - FCD Premier

FInal
Sting 03
DT South - winner by 1

Seems like a pretty good breakdown to me in normal weather conditions. IF it gets played I'm going to go out on a limb and say most games will be toss ups simply because it sounds like it's going to be bone chilling cold this weekend. With their being a 70% chance of rain on Friday I just don't see Ross Stewart being playable but maybe the Texans treat tournments differently and will let folks play on the fields if they are a little wet.

From looking at the schedules I'd say on paper FCD Prem probably has the toughest draw, having to play LP Elite and Sting Hilton to try to advance. Heck they could play a great tournament and still not advance (unless they win every game which is quite possible). Bracket A looks like a lot of fun because as soon as someone says that Sting G should walk through they seem to stub their toe and as soon as you say it looks like Sting G has dropped off a bit they end up winning 6 in a row. Same thing goes for DTS, everytime some says they have dropped a bit they end up winning a tournmant like this.

Have fun and dress in layers.

50% Thurs, then 90% all day Friday. that sounds like a lot of soaked fields come Saturday. I agree with BW - rain will win this one. Guess the teams that chose AFC last weekend made the right choice. That's the breaks though with Texas weather.

I agree....Ross may be a no go, but I expect DT to save the tourney with a very modified schedule
Although, from a spectator point of view, with the weather being in the 30s and 40s,
I wouldn't lose too much sleep if the whole thing gets canceled.

I think with all of the out of town teams coming, it would be crappy NOT to cancel - and it should be done earlier than at the last minute. Especially if it starts raining tomorrow and there is a 90% chance of rain Friday… Of course the call would come down to one person - and that person is known for his crappy decisions Shocked

My prediction is that won't happen. They will do whatever they can to get as much of the tournament in this weekend, and will only cancel at the last minute. If tournament gets cancelled, the out of town teams will use their coaching network connections with the local NTX clubs (Texans, Sting, FCD, etc...) to set up some friendlies. Several club coaches in the area that are high school coaches as well who could probably pull some strings to get a game or two on a turf field on Saturday or Sunday if the grass fields are too wet.

Yeah, if I were to guess this thing (even if it starts raining Thursday night and doesn't stop all day Friday) will not be cancelled early. I would imagine they will do whatever they can to get at least the Friday games in so that they at least keep some of the money for the weekend.

Unless the weathermen are completely off (which is quite possible) this weekend is going to miserable weather for soccer. Cold, wet, and windy is a horrible combination. Should make for some interesting results though.

Anyone see the playoff schedule? 11:00 Sunday game for wildcard team. Well 6 teams probably fighting for that wildcard spot with their last game 9:30...and at a different field. Wonder if that will get changed or impact teams playing in that spot.

cheers So glad NOT to be involved with this one. Last year (when the weather was just blah and not horrible) this tournament was awful. Glad our money and team decided to go elsewhere.

No reason not to cancel the couple of outlier tournaments who haven't pulled the trigger yet.  Unless of course you want to keep some of the entry fee.

Credit where credit is due. Gopher not only has the best Academy ranking system, he also has the most reliable weather prediction model. That's an impressive algorithm you've got. Gopher called it on Tuesday. Well, guess tomorrow is movie day.

Anybody see any of that refund $ yet? "If inclement weather cancels the tournament prior to start of the first scheduled game, a maximum of up to 50% of the entry fee will be refunded to teams."
