New Dates for LHGCL Spring Roundup - NO MONDAY GAMES!!

After polling teams, we have determined that there are enough teams that are unable to play on Monday that we have decided to reformat the tournament to end on Sunday evening.

This means semi-finals and finals will be played Sunday afternoon and evening. Expect the last games to end after 7pm on Sunday evening.

Unfortunately, this means that, other than than scheduled league games for our guest teams, it will be impossible to accommodate most special scheduling requests, i.e. playing at a certain time of day.

We hope this change allows us to field even more teams to the following group:

Registration ends Saturday 2/1. As mentioned, tournament will be played Friday - Sunday, 2/14- 2/16.

5 brackets with only 4 teams advancing

Crazy, should be interesting

Very interesting set up, basically you can win your pool and not advance. Quite a few evenly matched teams so it should make for some very tight games. On paper I'd predict a Sting Guit and FCD Gold final but all that could change based on points in pool play.

Noticed where FCD Prem and DTS are both playing up in the 02's so that should be interesting to watch, both teams should have some success.

Looks like nice weather so that should be nice for a change.

For the most part it seems the teams were seeded by standings with LHGCL Div 1 teams first, the LHGCL Div 3 teams second and the non-LHGCL teams seeded lowest.  It is not perfectly set up that way, but it is fairly accurate.

Bracket E only shows 3 teams, and they only show them playing 2 games

It still runs pretty true to form and mostly follows the standings.  It looks like they separated the Sting teams because in the first go round I think there were 3 Sting teams in one bracket.  

And of course now there are only 19 teams?  Who disappeared?  Sting North?

I believe FCDallas South Blue has dropped. They were in the 1st bracket & are no longer in it.

I think they are in Bracket B now.

Bracket B originally had 3 Sting teams in it so maybe FC Dallas South Blue's move was part of shuffling that group around.

So if just four teams out of five brackets advance, it simply means that the four teams with the highest points (then tiebreaks) will advance. The 16 teams in brackets play three games each, with the max possible points of 30. However, bracket E only has three teams scheduled for two games each with a max total points of 20, this mean that bracket E is just there for fun?

That's kind of the way it looks. I guess someone in Bracket E has to hope to win both of their games 3-0 and then hope for a ton of ties in every other bracket.

Maybe the wildcards are chosen by percentage of possible points earned, wouldn't that be fun

So A-D teams that a teams need to win three games 3-0, while bracket E teams just need to win two games 3-0. I'm calling poop on that, LH should have either had brackets with more than four teams each or allowed six teams to advance, with the top two teams earning a bye. Oh wait that would cost them a little more money for refs, forbid that.

However, as I type this the schedules have once again been taken down, maybe they realized that loved ones would rather spend time with each other on Valentines Day then on a soccer field.

I'm assuming he's joking. Considering there is no guarantee on the number of games I'm not sure how they are going to divide the 19 teams into brackets and make it work. Wonder if they are on the phone now trying to get teams to join just to make it workable. I think I saw this same type scenario in one of the other age groups.

BTW, are you sure they are paying for refs, don't you normally have pay LH's refs in cash before each game?

Schedule Down Again

This is beginning to be comical. Its less than 48 hrs from the first game and no one has a firm schedule. In their defense, they did say the schedules would be out week of the tournament. I guess we shouldnt expect this to be organized. In hindsight they probably should of had a cut off date a few weeks ago so they would have plenty of time to sort this out. Oh wait, they did.

Even if I tried I could not count the total number of tournaments my kids have participated in, but I can honestly say that this schedule cluster-f is the worst I've ever witnessed. Day before the games are to start and no one knows their schedule? You'd think the LH would be able to handle a tournament better than this since they host one of the biggest of the year each summer. Sure would be nice to know who the TD is so we could avoid future tournaments they are involved with.

Well all is right in the world now, the schedules are up and it looks like everyone is going to get three games. Looks like a team dropped out so there's only 18 teams now (three groups of 4 and two groups of 3). Still the same 5 groups playing for 4 slots but at least you all get three games now.

Plus you have the added bonus of 70 degrees and sunny so enjoy the weekend.
