Dallas Club Recomendations Empty Dallas Club Recomendations

Post by soccer4real 29/01/14, 11:39 am

We just moved to the area and want to get our daughter and sons involved with Club soccer. We've heard a lot of the rumors about several clubs, but I wanted to see what the feedback is. Here's what we've heard;

1. Sting - very expensive and the coaches don't stay with their teams long
2. Dallas Texans - money hound
3. Mustangs FC - in complete shambles. No real direction
4. FC Dallas - ?
5. Cosmos - small but good coaches.
6. HP Scots - you can only live in the Park Cities to play for them
7. Liverpool - no Dallas teams

Can you all give us any feedback on each of these clubs?

Some of those are funny.  What part of "the area" do you live in?  Where are you coming from and how much soccer has your DD played?

Have you heard anything about the following:

Solar
Dallas Rush
D'Feeters
Lady Aztecs
Dallas Kicks
AFC
Andromeda
?

Just so no one feels left out... and you might get one of those recommended to you.

Our daughter goes to school with some of the girls on one of the DFeeters team (woman coach, I believe). Isn't Dallas Rush new to this area?

1. Find a coach not a club. develop your daughter with the help of the coach and your yard. Laundry doesn't matter as far as making your kid better.
2. Big club pricing is all similar across the board, the bigger clubs offer more...at a price.
3. If cost is an issue, ask coach for a discount, or find a small club, indy team.

Key is to find a coach you believe in. The rest will always work itself out.

Do your homework....look at the coach's track record
with older teams. Try out some practices and see if your DD likes the girls or feels welcome. Is the drive doable 2x/wk?
Understand that those quick to bad mouth other clubs and those anxious to 'visit' with you are simply trying to fill a need on their particular team.

I agree with your first statement. With regard to your second, based upon playing experience, my kid is likely not even close to the same age as their kid so there is no need on any particular team. No intent to bad mouth anyone. Only trying to help someone and share my experience.

I don't know that there is a Cosmos 05 team right now.  FWIW, it disbanded a year or so ago.

Uh, dont "visit" with teams or parents that ask cause they only want you for their team benefit??-- that is perplexing. I say go visit with EVERYONE, go see, and go talk....

My DD moved to the Mustangs from a large club and is currently on Bussey's 03 team. We know families on the 05 team.

Basic Facts about the club:
Carl Bussey is owner and DOC and coaches several teams.
In addition to 03s, Carl has:

96s-LHGCL D2
99s-LHGCL D1, Premiere League and State Cup Champs
00s-LHGCL D2, Currently in 1st place

Website has a list of all the current teams totaling 17 but some of the newer/younger age groups are not on there yet. For example, I know that they are building a U8 boys team.
The club continues to grow with both western/ Tarrant County teams and Mesquite/Garland teams and there are at least 9 regular coaches and 2 keeper coaches.
So far, well run, organized, and great coaching. Feel free to PM if you have specific questions

I think there is an 05 Cosmos team but it has not been announced yet. I know there is a second 04 Cosmos team that joined recently.

The Mustangs train at 1) Bluffview Park (Dallas, near Lovers and the Tollway),
2) Northway Christian Church (Dallas, NW Hwy and 75 area) & 3) Moss Park (Dallas, Greenville Ave and Walnut Hill).
Not sure about all the teams, but the 05s
are at Northway......the 00s & 03s are at Moss Park.

Post by Mustangs FC 30/01/14, 08:11 am

I am the 05 Mustangs manager and am happy to provide any information about this specific age group (05) and the club in general.  Our girls are coached by Abdol Adloo and we practice at Northway Christian Church (near Northpark) twice weekly.  Feel free to PM me if you are interested in more information.

As an aside, while my daughter is with the Mustangs, my son is with one of the "big" clubs. The Mustangs did not have a team for his age level and we found an amazing coach elsewhere.  Like a previous poster, I also believe you don’t necessarily choose a club but you search out the best coaching fit.  Finding a coach that cares about developing your son or daughter as a player and as a person has been the most important thing for us in recent years.

Feel free to come out to the Sting Facility in Richardson, off 75 and Spring Valley. We would love for you to see for yourself rather than rely on what others have said. It is all about finding the right fit for your daughter. Shoot me a PM if your interested.
