What a bummer! With tonight's "rain-out" we now have 3 games scheduled over our spring break. We'll be lucky to have 11 players (mostl likely 10). Sorry folks but I will be hoping for rain next week...

We are in the same boat (No pun intended with wishing for rain
). Several players out for vacation and two games to play. Right now we have one sub that is if nobody decides to get hurt or somebody else goes on vacation.

Re: Games over Spring Break
My son only has four games (Sat/Sun, Sat/Sun) - one year we drove to Chicago - via St Louis, left Sun after a game, this year, that would have been a darned quick trip.

Re: Games over Spring Break
PPL scheduled weeknight games over Spring Break at the beginning of this season. First time I've seen that, both weekends were bad enough.

Re: Games over Spring Break
Last year we were in PPL and they only scheduled 1st weekend... we planned to leave for Disney right after the game but got lucky with a rain out
This year I was hoping for similar LH schdule and made same plans... should have known I would not get lucky 2 years in a row! DD feels really bad (we are missing 2 of the now 3 games). But not bad enough to skip Disney!

That's why all you poster above are in D111 or D11! Remember join your local YMCA and you will get Spring Break, a jersey and snacks after every game for ONLY $65.00. I keep telling you D111/D11 people to save your Money. The Nerve to say last year PPL (did you forget this is LHGCL and NOT PPL!!!!) Play big time Soccer and you will get a chance to go to Disney and play Soccer the same week.

I do not miss those snacks. It drove me crazy making sure that everyone brought their "assigned game" snacks and then if someone forgot the kids would have their lips all poked out.

No thanks, I'd rather keep my family vacations and soccer separate. DD plays because she loves it, not because she lives it. She's only 12.

My bad, I didn't see the filter that only allowed D1 parents on the forum. This is TXSOCCER, you could even be a rec soccer parent and post on here. Wait, Rasta, you seem to talk about rec soccer a lot, I'm guessing your DD just plays rec. That must be how you get time to go smoke in the hills.

Re: Games over Spring Break
Everyone's decision and angst about missing games is not related to what division they play in - it's a personal feeling/thought.
There are D1 parents/players who have no problems missing their games, there are rec parents who do everything they can to avoid missing games.
You have parents in all leagues who either understand the importance (lack thereof) of soccer in life and you have some who will hold a grudge for life due to another parent leaving with their child and missing a game.
This really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone - church and Spring Break were always a second consideration for scheduling - especially with Dallas Cup coming (they have to get the games in prior to it starting).

Re: Games over Spring Break
I hate to say this but Rasta is partially right. (It might have been a typo on his part)
But I would be surprised if you find any of the D1 players missing games next week. The players/families in D1 have made more of a commitment to the sport than most of the players in the lower divisions. The coaches in this level also expect more from their teams as far as commitments go.
I think every family needs to do whats right for themselves - no other excuses should be made. LHGCL information has always read that there will be games during spring break and they will not except requests off during that time.
