Going into the QTs I'm sure every coach had their team pumped up to make DI, but those hopes did not play out as designed. Then as they went into DIII the same coaches may have explained how it was good to go down to ,and dominate, DIII. Now that those hopes did not pan out I would think it would take a thick skinned human to listen to another set of promises and hopes from the same coach. A team that made DI ,even if they over achieved to get there, can still look forward to winning games at a DIII level. It would be a shame for parents and DDs to suffer through a tough season of DI soccer and not be there to reap the benifits of it the next year at a different level of competition. If the two teams that move down to DIII , from DI, have been playing the top teams in the area for the past year it would make sense that, while not ready for DI, they would be at least up to the competition in DIII. I think as long as a team is guaranteed a spot in LHGCL that it would be foolish to jump to another team chasing the prize. While these DDs are still 11 yrs old, as long as you have confidence in your coach and system, it might be better to stick together and learn to play with the same core group and help build a better team. That being said I'm sure some parents will think that, rather than have an ounce of loyalty, it's better to try to jump to a team trying to find a better team. I think one of Sting's teams is in 3rd in DIII right now. If Sting does what they have done in the past that team will have it's best players promoted up and other girls moved in to play. It will be hard to keep those parents together knowing they will be on a team that is having it's talent moved off it's roster. I believe the same would go for most clubs that excercise this way of moving players up, it can leave the players and parents left behind feeling a little rejected, no matter how the Blue machine puts a spin on it.
You just can't let your feelings about the third place DIII team go can you. I understand what you are saying about the top clubs wanting to keep their top players on the top teams. This keeps the money coming in. However, your little jabs at one particular Sting team have gotten old. LET IT GO!! BW has moved way past this thing and is working on developing HIS team. I would hope that with all the work, on top of the "60 day challenge", RH has put in he has moved past this as well. I seems it has just left a bad taste in your mouth. May I suggest some Listerine, rinse for 10 min, if the taste is still there then repeat until the taste is gone.
Hope you can enjoy the rest of your season and the upcoming tournament season.
