Kyle Owen Classic this weekend? Predictions?

This Tournament looks like an interesting group of teams and may possibly give us a better look at some of the teams looking to qualify for LHGCL and how some already there are holding up since the end of the season. Any predictions or rumors to go along with this tournament? 

In this stellar line-up of dump-n-run teams, I'll pick the non dump FCD Red to win this over Fever in a very tight match.

My picks:

Fever, FWFC Black and FCD Red as bracket winners.  Andro Red as wildcard.  Final game Fever vs FWFC Black.  
FWFC Black wins it.

I'm going to predict that Sparta makes some noise in this tourney. Should make the semis. It will be a tough because they will have to play Fever twice to make it into the finals.

Fever vs Sanchez in the final

On paper I'd go with Fever but once again I'm not getting in the prediction game until after all the rosters are settled.

I'm intrigued by Sanchez and I've seen them in the last month look really good and then not so good. I'm most curious to watch them and some of the other teams that will be vying for a spot in LH's next year.

Sparta (assuming they can get past Fever, which I think they can) vs FWFC Black in the finals.

Glad to see that Sparta lived up to my initial thoughts. They and Sting Sanchez should definitely secure a spot in D3. The other two spots are opened to whomever else is out there.

Now to the good stuff. JD was out there coaching. Did not see Gutierrez until today. The team looked physical/athletic but style of play was more in the vain of what FCD Blue used to do when they had the fast forward. Lots of kickball down the middle to get it up to the two athletic forwards. You can't blame them for the strategy especially since it worked. I just expected more from an elite compilation of talent. I couldn't pick out someone else's dd if they stood in front of me but my dd told me that she saw a number of the former FDC Premier kids on the team that she knew through ODP. I still think that SRSA, Solar color?(FCD Gold), LP Elite, and DT South (if they can recover from the loss of some dd's) are still ahead of them. Great weekend of soccer. Now on to the US game.

Anybody know what happened to LP Barnes over at Guts and Glory?

We played them twice. Lost both times. They are very good. Excellent passing. Excellent movement without the ball. High soccer IQ all over the field. Very good GK. Very good skills with the ball all over the field. One forward/striker with blazing speed....and I mean blazing. They spread you out and break you down on offense. They challenge strong and fast on defense. You will NOT get 3 touches. If they have any weakness it is NOT in skill, speed or smarts.

The one thing I saw. Their back line does not have size. Size or not, it didn't matter this weekend. They are what their record says they are.....very good.

What is shocking is that an Arlington Premier League 4th place 03 squad beat a D2 team. I guess the mass exodus of LP Barnes players still happened even though the coach was changed.

That Arlington Premier team had 5 good guest players... 3 from the same team and that LHGCL team just missed several opportunities.... Cyclones were dominated.... The 1 shot they had was a BEAUTIFUL header from a corner kick... Barnes held possession the entire weekend, just couldn't finish... Same old song!! Now that team does look better.... Just a bad weekend.

Before we go reading too much into any results this weekend....understand that guest play was a big factor in both tournaments. Fever won the Kyle Owen as expected without help (as far as I know)...hats off to them. I didnt like the way the playoffs were handled with PKs instead of playing the game...but I get it...rain was steady all morning and we all wanted to be home in plenty of time for the USMNT game.

No guest players for Sparta. Fever and Sparta tied in bracket play.
I'm not a fan of going straight to PK's either. That is not a way to decide semis or finals.

So were semis and final game both determined by PKs?
