Re: King tut scores
I am sure our little sideline reporter (soccerrocks) was sitting in the huddle transcribing too...context and accuracy is king, my friend. My dd doesn't play on that team, but I know some people...I asked around about the sideline speech from this coach on that particular day because I had trouble believing what I was hearing on the board here, and found out that the speech was about how they were not keeping formation as they were taught incessantly in practice, and if they didn't start focusing on formation they would look like a bunch of stupid little chickens with their heads cut off chasing every ball...and needlessly tiring themselves out by running around with no purpose.boilerjoe_96 wrote:Used2bKix wrote:silentparent wrote:Notinthemiddle wrote:SOCCERROCKS wrote:After listening to the FCD Central White coach talk to his players while waiting for my DD's game to begin near their bench I am glad my daughter doesn't play for him I don't believe calling a 10 year old a "stupid little idiot" is a very good way to coach. He was pretty little himself and it took a lot of restraint not to go tell him who really was a "stupid little idiot"!
Doesn't sound like skills coaching, possibly it follows under the tactical/mental tools and experience needed to play at the ECNL levels and beyond.
So to play at ecnl children need to be degraded by coaches? I don't think so, this coach would have had his azz handed to him if that was my kid, pay you to act like that to kids ? No way....
Me too SP...he would have had a Gatorade enema
Way off original topic...but why do parents continue to pay coaches that verbally abuse their kid? I understand sports and passion(yelling, though really not needed), but name calling a 10 year old girl? I have witnessed a 7 year old girl, 1st grader, being yelled at and called stupid too.
Coach should be real proud.
I told a referee assignor one time that he was full of sh** when people were walking by us at the field one time...I am sure that probably stuck in their heads after getting out of earshot and hearing only that bit...trouble is, he was a personal friend of mine and we were talking about something totally unrelated to soccer...and he was indeed full of it in that instance.

Why would you want to dismiss this without any first hand knowledge (like the eye witness)? One side is an eye witness and the other side has a second hand report from an unknown source. I'm more apt to believe the eye witness typically but I'd hate to throw a coach needlessly under the bus unless he has a history of verbal abuse.

Not a far throw to "that soccer coach was such a nice guy he couldn't have possibly done those things". I am not in any way referring to the fcd coach in this thread or any others just making a general statement.

Got my info from a kid that was in the huddle...not someone walking by hearing 3 words and mistaking "chickens" for "idiots"...it has the same vowel sound, so if you are 20 feet and 4 mph away complete with a predisposed hatred enough to be looking for something to post, it could sound like it.CBTeamworks wrote:FC Dallas Central Div wrote:SOCCERROCKS wrote:After listening to the FCD Central White coach talk to his players while waiting for my DD's game to begin near their bench I am glad my daughter doesn't play for him I don't believe calling a 10 year old a "stupid little idiot" is a very good way to coach. Now...when I stand 10 feet away and hear a coach say "take your F***ing shirt off and sit on the end of the bench - you don't deserve to wear that F***ing shirt - you are a F***ing embarassment to yourself, me, your club and your F***ing parents" thats pretty ugly. Believe it or not....That guy has parents falling all over themselves to get their little ones on his team, and is one of the most "respected" developmental coaches in the metroplex.

I am glad to hear that this wasn't a case of a coach gone out of his mind. We didn't play King Tut so I can't speak for any ranting and raving by coaches. What I do know is that when a team doesn't win, it is a great deal of coaching that contributed to the loss. It amazes me that so many coaches will bask in the limelight of a win and credit the win to their superior coaching ability, but when it comes to losing a game...well they can't be blame for having no skilled players on their team. A good coach will never shift blame on poor performance to strictly the players' fault. So many coaches tend to take out their frustrations and lack of coaching ability (the ability to motivate) on their players. To me, that is just bad character and parents should steer clear of those coaches. A ten year old will move mountains with the right motivation and coaching, and with brow beating they will just dig their heels in the grass.

A coach should never yell at his or her players. If yelling is necessary, it is because the pitch is really big, and the player, or players, the coach is attempting to teach or instruct is pretty far away. The key words, though, are teach and instruct. His or her role is to guide his or her players into a better technical and tactical understanding of the game as well as to emphasize the importance of consistent effort. There are, of course, a lot of ways to do this, but yelling at, or "brow beating," a player isn't one of them. It does more long term harm, I assure you, than any perceived short term good.
Keep in mind, parents, these are just little girls playing a game they love. Don't let anyone ruin that for them.

I am not Believing your example was with a 10 year old girl but this matters not as I normally wouldn't have bothered posting about this but seemed a little harsh and hoped if I had a kid on the team maybe someone would give me a heads up. And I only quoted one instance not all of them but when the coach has to dedicate a good amount of his halftime speech explaining that the reason he talks
so nasty is because he likes them and wants them to learn there may be a problem? But I am out on this one the coach with the little man syndrome that bullies the 10 year old girls has no bearing on me as I was an honestly just a bystander that if any one needs proof I was filming the other direction and picking up a good deal of it on video because he was loud because the parents were all the way across the field and had no worries. Again none of my business enough said and if he has a daughter on the team and it was her then I should mind my own business which I will do.

You are right. I remember that lesson in 1st grade:
Cat rhymes with mat.
Bat rhymes with hat.
Chicken rhymes with idiot.

Not sure what Soccerrocks motive is here
But
If there was a 4 MPH head wind it would make sense that the same phenomena that 10sd shared would apply to a stationary video - idiot would indeed sound like chicken.
Referring to “coach with the little man syndrome” is unnecessary. And they might be unaware that he reached a higher level of play in this country than most Academy/Select coaches.

Great. What does that have to do with having good interpersonal skills in general, and being able to appropriately and effectively teach and communicate with 10 - 12 year old girls.

So....getting back on topic...here is what we know for certain:
CJ Goodman has left Sting, and is currently forming an 04 girls team at FC Dallas - building from a core set of serious players that followed him over to FC Dallas from Sting.
With a few more quality players, this team stands a very good chance of making D1 in LHGCL. Which means.....
If your DD is a stud on her former rec team (now academy), and the other girls haven't really kept up with your dd's progress...BUT, you have been a bit scared to take the leap to a higher challenge because your dd wants to be a starter....this could be a good fit!
OR...if your dd currently plays on a D1 team, but is not getting the playing time or development that you think she needs...this could be a good fit as well!
OR...if your dd currently plays on a good team that is losing players and having trouble recruiting and you are getting the feeling that it might be time to get your backup plan in place...it would be worth checking out!
The fear of going in "cold" to an existing D1 team is absolutely not there...with this situation, you won't get the animosity from existing parents because your dd "stole" the starting spot from their dd! There are starting spots available! No awkward looks!, no snippy remarks!, just a welcoming, positive vibe.
Spots are expected to fill quickly - opportunities like this don't come around that often...knock, knock...answer the door! Get in on the ground floor! (lets see...what other advertising cliche's can I use?)
Practice is tomorrow! Address and time is at the top of the thread (before it got hijacked by haters). You might even get to meet the (in)famous 10sDad in person!
But seriously...my dd came over to CJ very recently, and we are glad we did. Many of you have seen my posts regarding select soccer, and know I have been through this before. I have the benefit of experience when analyzing if a coach is a good fit for my child, and I have to say that CJ and Trey are great guys, and I have already seen an improvement in my dd's skills and soccer IQ. Come check it out - you will be glad you did.

I hate to be the voice of reason....but I would assume the parents on this team would know whats best for their daughter and have a history with the coach. Don't know anything about the white team....but Central premier is coached very well, with some hard playing little ladies. Good luck
