03 girls playing in 02 Lake Highlands

We've heard rumors about the Solar Red 03's playing in 02 Lake Highlands D1. When you look at the teams on the GotSoccer website, DTS 03's are listed under Girls U12 while all the other 03's are in U11. Does this mean anything? Does anyone know for sure if either team is playing up in the 02 division?

The list that came out last week showed Solar Red playing up in 02 DII and DTS 03 was still in D1 of 03. I think DTS 02 is no more but I could be wrong.

I think DTS 02 is playing in the DIII division. At least that was what was on the list last week.

Not true.... Keegan gained some great girls (FCD Gold). You will be surprised which team(s) will struggle this year....

time will tell, i think d1 and d2 will be very interesting this year....

True... No clear cut winners, but Solar Chelsea Hopkins (with their additions) and LP Rush (with their consistency) are the favorites for D1 and D2 respectively.

yes but frankly thats not much of a prediction, both teams at the top of the standings but neither are the runaway favorite. i just think things will be pretty competitive and produce some surprises with the new mix of players out there...

Not trying to bash LP Keegan or any other teams, but I think many teams are in for a long season - especially in D1.  Here's my thinking:

Teams 7-10 (after removing Solar Red): Texans, Cosmos, Fever and LP Keegan were not very competitive with the teams above them.  Yes, I know there were 1-0 loses and 0-0 ties, but that doesn't mean the better teams were not dominant.  Last year, those teams played 5 games (out of 19) against teams that were significantly better than they were.  This year the bottom half of the league is not there to play against.  So those teams become the bottom half of the league and that is not a fun place to be.

So who did those teams pick up that will help them compete with the top teams?  I don't know enough about that to say, but I think there were only 4 FC Dallas Gold girls up for grabs (or else they would not have had enough to keep their bye)?  So even if LP Keegan picked up all 4 FC Dallas Gold girls they still need a lot more players.

I will admit that the strength of FC Dallas Premier and DT South will help determine how the season goes for Texans, Cosmos, Fever and LP Keegan.  If those two "top" teams drop off so much that those 6 teams are battling for 5th - 10th place then it will be a more enjoyable and competitive season for the bottom half of D1.

Still, when you start the season knowing that you are probably going to be outclassed in 8 games (Solar aka FC Dallas Gold, Sting G, LP Elite and from what I hear Sting Hilton) out of 18 that can make for a long season.

i totally agree, not bashing keegan. any other team stepping into the 10 spot would be in for a long season for the reasons you stated....

Totally agree.... I just believe some may have lost too much. Solar grabbing 2 of DTS defenders will vault them to the top... But only if they stay healthy... I will be watching more than just my DD this year... May be the most competitive season ever---- in all 3 divisions.

Here's a slightly different way to look at it:

What would be a successful season for the bottom 4 teams: Texans, Cosmos, Fever or LP Keegan?  Only those teams can really tell you, but finishing in 8th or better keeps you in D1 for another year.  So finishing 7th or 8th might be deemed a success.  Looking at the last 4 years of U12 D1:

2013-2014: 7th place team had 11 losses
2012-2013: 7th place team had 11 losses
2011-2012: 6th place team had 10 losses
2010-2011: 8th place team had 10 losses

To me, that is a lot of losing.  And we aren't talking about just the team that finishes last.  Its the bottom 3 or 4 teams (and by that I mean the parents) that will have their patience tested.

Of those Bottom 4 (B4) can anyone reveal who lost or gained quality. Maybe say it this way, did you lose a starter? We saw in about 5 posts in multiple areas that Keegan needed a GK. I'd guess theirs went somewhere.

Keegan moved the team to Dallas, per their posts. I would assume the Tarrant-based families didn't move with.

There are no girls from the team last year on the current Keegan team.

If that is the case, how does Keegan retain their bye if they did not keep 75% of their team?

Club keeps bye.

75% rule pertains only to teams that change clubs after Feb 1
Keegan wasn't required to keep a single player from last year's roster....and they didn't

Team moves clubs, 75% go with, Team keeps bye.

Players leave to other teams/clubs, less than 75% go with, Club keeps bye and puts whatever team they want in that spot or builds a new team which Keegan did.
