Sting Goodman added a D1 player to their roster midseason last year because the D1 Sting team roster was filled at the time. They also floated down another D1 player in a couple games in the second half of the season.

Not sure that either player helped them get or keep the top spot but it is what happened.

Excuse me? Would you like to explain yourself saying that Sting 03 Goodman used guest players to improve their chances of hanging onto the top spot? I'm not sure that you know what you are talking about.

"Floated down" is a nice way of saying 'player passing' a top notch Sting H DI player for several D3 games last spring.
That ring a bell, kick-in-the-grass??

Let me fill you in on the situation. The DD that was added to the roster midseason, was done so by the Club and NOT added by the coach. Goodman was the only team at that time within the club that didn't have a full roster. She is a good player, but, she was in no way why that team kept their "top spot". That "top spot" was earned by the original players on that team that played hard to win D3 and move into D2.

As for the D1 player that played 2 games with Goodman, she is also a good player, but did not sway either game she played with them. In those 2 games, she did score 1 point in a game that was won by Goodman 2-0. So, even if she hadn't scored her 1 point, Goodman still would have won that game because one of the original players scored that point.

I assume those players that were CPP'ed on Sting Goodman ended up staying with the team which explains why they are doing decent in D2? We played them in the beginning of last year, and again a few times towards the end. Seemed like night and day.

No, these players did NOT stay with the team.

They are "doing decent in D2" because they are a great group of young ladies who have a great chemistry and a wonderful head coach and assistant coach. All of these young ladies have had some amazing coach's in their past who have brought them to this point in their young soccer careers. The new head coach is building on what they taught these young players.

I am assuming that you are saying that they got better over the last year. Isn't that what ALL teams are supposed to do? Isn't that why they ALL go to practice and train? They are a year older, as your DD is, and they are ALL maturing and their understanding of the game is growing. I would hope they are ALL getting better.

I agree about the all getting better part. It makes sense. I recall them always being hard to score on, but based on the goals for and goals allowed ooks like they are finding the back of the net more often now and still hard to score on.  Hopefully they continue to build on that.

I figured there would be a lot of movement at Sting between Hilton and Guitterez. Did that happen? Is that why Hilton's production fell off a bit? Any insight if Solar FCD Gold is playing up in any tournaments like their big sister normally does?

Back to D1 and predictions... who is getting relegated at the end of the year?

Keegan - and then Cosmos, Fever, DTS, DT Dallas and Hilton will fight it out for the second relegation spot. I think you would have better odds at the horse track that choosing one from that group.

Sting has the most CPP firepower and I predict they will get some scoring "help" from their D2 and D3 teams the second half of the season.

Speaking of CPP and Keegan... Is that coach just not liked at LP? I mean, they get beat each week by a decent margin. Do they have a keeper? If not, wouldn't a CPP be justified there? I have seen the new team play one time now, and it seemed to be keeper by commitee there.

D2 moves top 2 up and drops bottom 2 to D3. D3 moves top 2 up and bottom 4 or 5 re-qualify.

At this age only one team from D2 and D3 get promoted while the bottom two from D1 and D2 gets relegated. Next year there are only 9 teams in d1. The bottom 5 in D3 get relegated out of D3 and have to requalify.

Oh yeah what he said ^. I knew it was something like that, just didn't know what age groups promote 2 versus 1.

Thanks for clarifying.
