Dallas International Girls Cup

Post by Joe scafone on 18/03/15, 10:10 am

Okay. Can someone please try to explain the method or reasoning of how they put all top 4 teams in same bracket? http://dallascup.demosphere.com/schedules/2015/68676586.html

I gotta think more teams will be added and maybe brackets will be realigned at that point? Maybe?

I just can't believe the game times on the schedule. I think one of our games is at 1pm on a Wednesday!

From the TD.   I am pretty sure all teams knew of this before registering.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Please note that we cannot make any schedule changes now that the schedule is posted. There are several scheduling constraints (school, English class testing, driving distances, coaches coaching multiple teams, international host team requirements, field time availability, etc.) that make it a very difficult schedule to compose already, and if any changes need to be made it will create a “ripple” effect that will create several more conflicts requiring even more changes. We did our best to try and make the schedule keeping school conflicts in mind, but all North Texas teams have already been informed in the tournament acceptance e-mail and the tournament confirmation manual that North Texas teams will have to play at least one game in the later morning/afternoon on Wednesday or Thursday.

Day games during the school week have always been part of this tournament. You can check past tournament schedules:

That is another reason why some local teams are not playing. With all the other days missed from school with travel. It is hard to miss more school in a local tournament. Trust me I recieve all the nasty your DD could be truant letters from the district.

Play! Play! The administration should work with you if she exceeds the number of days allowed.

You can get the day excused. There is some special UIL rule that will allow it.

Heck, they should be happy to have such physically fit girls helping them meet their fitness goals. That's my thought anyway.

Excused, Unexcused count the same. You have a certain number of days per semester you can miss that's it. I believe it to be nine. You will use at least two days for a national tournament and ECNL travel will have you missing some Friday's unless you want to get in to Tulsa or Houston at midnight before a 9:00 am game. Does your kid have braces? These days will add up on you quickly!

The rule is 10% and is a state law, not a local judgement. The hours can usually be made up if you are willing to talk to the principal or the counselor at the school-even if the kid is going after school to get a mini-lesson on the work she missed. Most schools will make a trade in "detention" or "tutorial" hours for the time that was missed.
