lucky break for Solar Gold. Any time a d3 team doesn't have to go through qualifying again is a good thing.

Wow, Yea!!! Another reason why the system is broken! A team that finishes last gets rewarded with a bye!! I am sure all other teams that will be in D3 are excited so that have atleast one easy win.

I totally agree...the bye should go into the pot & let another team try to qualify. Why reward a "sister team" just because the other team couldn't hold it together??

Usually the teams that are unlucky enough to get a club's bye into LH take a beating. Solar Gold may actually have a better chance than the team they are replacing.

Look what happened to FCD White and FCD East this year taking those club byes. Both took beatings in divisions where they shouldn't have been playing. We'll see how it works out for them after this next year. There was speculation that they would gain from the recruiting by moving up. At least they both moved up so high that they would get 2 years of assured byes. Solar Gold will most likely have to qualify again next year, just putting it off for a year.
Of course, that bye also depends on if they can make. I hear they have 8 or less left. Been through 4 coaches in the last year.

I heard the same thing a month or so ago that the team was folding. Maybe the DIII bye will pull things together.

If Gold doesn't make who get the spot?

I'm sure Solar can find a Coach to bring a team over from Plano/Arlington if needed. I doubt they will give up the spot.

Agreed, those bye's are worth $$! We have to remember that while the current system has flaws, LH is going to protect the big clubs and their best interests. This has been debated for years- every option has its own downside, but LH will always protect its largest voting members (think US Gov and lobbyists)

This is a little bit of a shock because the rumor was the players on Solar Gold were looking to leave but the current coach would not sign guest release papers. 4 coaches in the span of a couple years is not a good sign(maybe they should of kept Aaron Pratt), but on the flip side this bye could make parents/players rethink their move to another team. Most people do not want to take the risk of getting a terrible seed in the qt and not making classic. A bye means a little stress free summer.

As far as FCD White and East are concerned. I felt last year FCD White was more geared for DII with the players on the team. They played hard every game but lacked some of the more skilled players currently playing on DI teams. I think White will do fine in DII. FCD East was thrown to the wolves by the club IMO. Thhe club should of merged the East and Red teams of the best players. They might not of finished any better than last but could of had a fighting chance to compete at a higher level.

But in the end FCD now has a DI Team, DII Team and DIII team. These byes will be appealing to players looking to change teams or keep players on those teams.

Congratulations? What did they do to earn this? Usually, a contratulatory remark is associated with something earned.
As others have suggested, they will probably regret the promotion. A team almost always gets trampled when they are moved up via a bye from a sister team. Most recently, I saw it with 94 ASG. The Gold West from last year - a top D2 team - folded and handed its bye to the previously D3 team. That team finished just barely out of relegation for this season; I think 3rd from last. Ironically, they had given their D3 bye to a new ASG team... which finished dead last. History doesn't favor 97 Solar Gold. Sorry.

Well, it's gotta be one of these if it's true:

    Sting
    Texans Red
    Sting Royal
    Texans North White
    Solar Red
    D'Feeters
    FC Dallas Black
    FWFC White
    Solar

start ruling teams out and who do we have left?
