03 PPL Landscape

Post by Guest on 31/07/15, 02:15 pm

Everything will be falling into place in the next week, but wondered where things might sit with the top 2 Divisions in the PPL 03 group.

By rule, the bottom team from D1 from last spring gets relegated with the top 2 from D2 getting promoted which puts D1 at 10 teams. Here is the ranking from last spring.

1. Colleyville Evolution - Gone to LH?
2. Sting North Garrett - No longer together?
3. Dallas Texans Red (Formerly Andromeda Red) - Gone to LH?
4. Sting East Dunstan - Gone to LH?
5. LP Shankly
6. Gremio USA
7. GWFSA Xpress
8. NTFC Black - No longer together?
9. Lady Aztecs - relegated to D2

Pretty good chance that 3 of the top 4 are gone to LH. Sting North looks to be no more as does NTFC Black. Lady Aztecs by rule would be relegated with Andromeda Blue and FM United FC (now Triumph FC - Royle) being promoted from D2.

D2 is to consist of 10 teams with the bottom team from D1 being relegated, the top 3 teams from D3 moving up and the bottom 2 from D2going to D3. Here is the ranking from last spring.

1. Andromeda Blue - Gone to LH?
2. FM United FC (Now Triumph FC - Royle) - Promoted to D1
3. Sting North Larry
4. GSSC Thunder Black
5. Texas Thunder
6. FC Dallas North
7. LP Callaghan
8. FC Dallas East Red (Now Sting Shepard)
9. Texas Spirit - relegated to D3
10. Meja Shepard (Now Texas Fury) - Relegated to D3

FC Dallas WTX, Sting Central Rojas and Xtreme would qualify by rule for promotion to D2. Both D1 and D2 are to consist of 10 teams each.

Wondering how this will all look once the dust settles with a good possibility of there being 4-5 D1 teams left and likely 6 in D2? Thoughts?

Wow. Seems like Plano d1 teams level won't be as good as the last two years.

Agreed. PPL D1 is wide open and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

You also have the three teams relegated from Lake Highlands.

1.  SAO PAULO FC 03G SEDEH(F:SOLAR03ROYAL)
2.  FC DALLAS YOUTH FC DALLAS 03G EAST(F:TEXAS LIGHTNING)
3.  WARRIORS 03G

FC Dallas being the only one with a chance to return to LH.

Not sure if these teams retained 50% of their roster to have a PPL D1 bye.

In the 02's last year they moved all the PPL teams with N+1 up until they filled out the spots. D1 pulled from D2 until all the slots were filled. D2 took the N+1 left and pulled from D3 with N+1. There were 2 spots left in D2 after that was done and they then slotted the 2 relegated LH teams in D2. Both those teams did have N+1. The rest of the teams went to qualifying. I don't think any of the relegated LH teams, for the past few years, has been put in D1. Had to play their way up.

It's because PPL D1 is so good, that even LH teams with N+1 could not likely compete at that level. Rolling Eyes

Yep those team will have to requalify for plano d3 and work they way up. Just like andro blue did maken it to d1 bye for this coming year but still with the door open to LH. I must ask why would tx lightning choose such a similar name to the old sting Shepard team from fc dallas. For the longest time I thought it was the same team based from the name.

Re: 03 PPL Landscape

How does the landscape look today, taking into account the developments over the weekend?   Unless I'm looking at this wrong, 1 & 2 should look like this as of this morning...

PPL 1:
- Colleyville Evo
- DT Red
- LP Shankly
- Gremio
- Wichita Falls Xpress
- Triumph FC - Royle (moved up from D2)

Gone are Sting Garrett (dissolved), Sting Dunstan (LH), NTFC (dissolved), Lady Aztecs (relegated to D2)

PPL 2:
- Sting Larry
- GSSC Thunder Black
- Texas Thunder
- FC Dallas North
- LP Callaghan
- Sting Shepard

Gone are Andro Blue (LH), Triumph Royle (moved up to D1), Texas Spirit (relegated to D3), Texas Fury (relegated to D3).  Do the 2 top teams in D3 get moved up the D2?  I'm assuming yes, until I hear otherwise.

So, it looks like there are 4 spots available in D1, and 2 in D2.  Is that right?

Are all of those spots filled via the PPL QT, or will more teams get moved up from lower divisions?

Another question is, what teams will be playing in that tournament?  I'm guessing Sao Paulo, Warriors & FC Dallas Youth East (all LH teams this spring).  What other teams benefit from playing in this qualifier?  Will D2 (and D3) teams participate in this to hopefully move up?  I know Celtic 03 is petitioning to play - according to PPL rules, since they're a "new" team they automatically go to D4 and can't play in the PPL QT.  They lost to DT - FTW last weekend on a last minute goal (with no subs) and beat Sting Shepard, and lost to LP Shankly the week before 2-1.  It looks like they're probably a D2 level squad.

It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out

Teams get moved up. Plano QT is for bracket starting from d3 and if you don't qualify than you start from the lowest Divison. Hope that helps

By rule, only D1 and D2 teams who maintain N+1 receive a bye and don't have to play in the QT. Last year Andromeda Blue and Sting Larry fell out of LH and went through QT and had to play their way up to D2 after starting the year in D3. There is some allowance for discretion by the league which they may use due to so many vacancies, but that hasn't necessarily happened in the past.

D1 look's a lot more interesting now that Evolution and DT Red are back in the mix. Should be a competitive group. My guess is they will move teams up from D2 to fill out D1 and restock D2 from qualifying. PPL does it right promoting and relegating after the fall. We'll know soon enough.

Congrats to Andromeda Blue on one heck of a QT! They made a nice run.

If D1 and D2 are filled via promotion, and the LH teams are moved down to D3 (like Andro Blue and Sting Larry did last year) it "could" look like this:

Division 1:
- Colleyville Evo
- DT Red
- LP Shankly
- Gremio
- Wichita Falls Xpress
- Lady Aztecs
- Triumph FC - Royle
- Sting Larry
- GSSC Thunder Black
- Texas Thunder

What's leftover in D2 is:
- FC Dallas North
- LP Callaghan
- Sting Shepard
- Texas Spirit (now not relegated to D3)
- Texas Fury (now not relegated to D3)
- FC Dallas WTX (moved up from D3)
- Sting Central Rojas (moved up from D3)
- Legacy FC (moved up from D3)
- Manchester 03 (moved up from D3)
- Hurst United (moved up from D3)

What D3 could look like (?):
- FC Dallas Black
- Rockwall FC
- FC Frisco Xtreme
- Eclipse SC
- FC Dallas Youth East (formerly LH)
- Sao Paulo (formerly LH)
- Warriors (formerly LH)
- Celtic 03 (if they can get an exemption)
- Andro West (moved up from D4)
- Texas Lonestars

There could be some ugly results if this were to happen

I was referring to the LH teams in D3 taking on some lesser opponents (with the exception of the Warriors perhaps, as they seem to be coached like a glorified "kick-n-run" rec team - it's a shame, because they have some good players). FC Dallas East would dominate this division in an ugly way. Hopefully Sao Paulo and Celtic can get some more players, as they both played last weekend with few or no subs.

Hahahaha keep going in what that mentally. Play your game week in and out and let that do the talking. As you see nothing is given ask evolution and dtx red. Either way good luck to all the team going into Plano.

Relegated teams from LH?
Appear to be struggling or not as dominant as one would think.
D4 - SP VS FCD Silver 3-2?
D4 - Celtic vs Spirit? Showed well 4-0 ( but again, its D4)
D3 - FCD East vs FCD White Tie? 0-0?
D2 - Warriors lost to FCD North 2-1 and barely beat Spirit 1-0?
Alot of season left to see or its gonna be a long road back.

Neither Spirit Central nor Celtic were relegated from LH. This is Celtic 03's first year of existence, and that Spirit team was in D5 last season

FCD North over the Warriors doesn't surprise. FCDN has slowly improved over the last couple of years. I saw this game and it doesn't appear the Warriors have added any scoring punch. If you can't score, you'll have tight results.

While top to bottom there isn't the quality there used to be, as Adrenalinetx suggested, there are teams that are much improved and getting better. Many of the teams who move from Plano to LH seem to stick and there are still a few I could see moving up next year. There are a few in D1 who could compete well now with teams at the current D2 LH level or what will be D3. There are a few who have added talent that will make them better as the year progresses and teams start to gel.

Still early, but the contenders will start to seperate themselves soon enough.

The Warriors beat them 5-0 earlier in the year. FCD North may have improved, but I think this has more to do with the Warriors and their continual exit of quality players, and of course their "coaching"

Why is PPL weak and not as good as it used to be? SG moved on and SD, NTFC faded and basically the same teams still there. The relegated lh teams done squat, and yea some ppl teams can compete or hold their own against classic teams in D3. PPL Teams will improve and get better, gotta give them some credit.

Don't take offense BIG. In the last 2 years teams, more than a handful of teams have left Plano for LH (Sting Sanchez, Dunstan, Mustangs, Andro Blue, TX Lightning). That's a good chunk of what was D1 in fall 2013. Still some very solid teams left, but not as competitive top to bottom as it was when those teams were there. PPL still sends the most teams to LH. Also consider the sources team MAY be one of the newest LH teams to join the fold.
