No one is calling her daughter out or saying anything negative about #23. Who is a super star and should be playin up instead of wasting time on that 03 team if you ask me. Must be another hopkins parent.

Playing up at a young age isn't always the right answer, especially at u13 they still need to develop and the competition will equal out come ECNL time anyways. Athletes always rise up to level of play no matter if there playing there own age or playing up. In IMO playing a kid up sometimes put's more pressure on them too perform especially if we are talking about a 03' playing up on a 02' Ecnl team and less on developing in there own age right now.

As for the Solar team that team has talented girls on the team and a good team and some would say it's arguable who the top Solar team is right now. But as for #23 she is great player but she Chirps out there on the field like the rest of them, so no throwing rock's in a glass house.

LOL. Strike 1. In all my days I've seen less than impressive behavior from DT, Fever, FWFC, Solar, DTS, LP, FC Dallas, Mutiny, Spirit, and Sting.... Did I miss anyone? Everyone at this commitment level is intense and that creates a competitive environment in which tempers can flare and feelings get hurt.

How funny I know 2 03s from the old srsa playing up on the 02 and one of them plays on the 01 solar ecnl team when needed. If you can play at the level do it, it's gonna make you better in the long run. Only a few player are capable of doing that. #23 clearly is capable of playing up

I get what your saying, but im not impressed with any girl at this age, when they get u15 and up and they have Hips and have hit puberty and there dominating still, then that's impressive and definitely worth the respect of saying there Studs..as people call them.

Hey thanks to both of you. But you are correct ICU she is loved by many and hated by just as many. She once asked me, "Mom, why does everyone hate me so much." I didn't exactly know how to respond to that. I couldn't honestly tell her that people don't hate her but I'm certain some do. I just said, I don't know. Maybe its because she eludes confidence when she plays. She hears the things parents say to her during games and also the things parents yell at their kids to do to her. I think parents forget she is only 12 years old. I think parents forget how they'd feel if someone was punching their DD in the back when they think the ref can't see it. I'm not sure. What I do know is she loves playing soccer, she works hard to achieve results and she gets upset, feels pain, and gets frustrated just like any other human being would in her position. I don't hide behind a screen name. Everyone knows who I am. I speak my mind when necessary and I DO NOT start the sideline drama. Most times I am not even on the parents sideline just so I don't hear the comments from the opposing parents. But look don't throw a rock and hide your hand. Don't start conflict with your comments and then act like you've been shot in the face when someone fires back. Like I said its always classless when you defend or talk back but its never classless to start the conflict in the first place right?????

I would have to agree with you. I've heard parents on the sideline say things to this 12 year old "young lady's" thing that I wouldnt say to my wife. Again nothing against you or your team I was just voicing my opinion. I've seen number #23 and love her attitude on the field. Know I'm sure player vs player you will see beef and hate between them but that's just he competive side of the sport. At the end of day I would love to see local player from the ntx representing in the women World Cup in the near future.

As for playing up, she started with an 01 team until they went select and she dropped down to play her age group.  She plays up with the 02's when asked and has been offered a spot on an 02 ECNL team. Whether or not we choose to go play has obviously not been decided.  I know she can handle it, she plays with a lot of the top 02 players in ODP. So that's not the issue.  Her happiness is what is important to me and not what anyone thinks she should be doing.  As I said she's 12.  She just wants to play with her friends some of whom she's played with since 4 years old in rec. Seven of the girls from her first 03 Academy team are still on the team with her now.  While I know she may benefit from moving on and playing up, she should be focusing on having fun with her friends and not too worried about college scholarships at this point.  If she keeps at it, they'll come.

There are still several teams in the 03's that have players well capable of handling her so to say she's not challenged or has no competition is not true.  There are also those that don't and those are the teams she hates to play because they result to dirty and flagrant fouls in an attempt to handle her. 12 year old soccer should be fun and not feel like a JOB.  I played her sister up her first year of select and while she was almost the same type player, she lost her confidence. It took nearly 2 years to rebuild that confidence back in my 98.  I vowed not to make the same mistakes with the 03 an introduced her to an older team before girls hit puberty and became mean.  Playing up is not always the answer because some young players just don't have the mental ability to handle playing with more mature players, they may be able to compete physically but mental maturity doesn't always happen at the same time.

Good player for sure but talks trash as many good ones do. When it takes you 40 minutes to score one goal on 04s, you might want to focus on work instead of taunting your opponents.

The team in question is not even the top 04 team so lets not crown the next Marta yet. Many of these players and parents could use a dose of humility and college coaches may pass on attitudes.

Yes Forrealz, she does talk trash.  And her trash talk is generally in response to the trash being talked to her on the field.  I forgot though, all the other DD's are angels.  Don't act like she's the only player talking trash she's just doesn't hide hers. Like I said, throwing rocks and then hiding your hand. I am the first one to yell across the field at mine to SHUT UP and just play and I tell her all the time you never know who's watching. Yet the constant taunting from you and other parents like you doesn't stop and it is hard to ignore, even at 12.  I don't take the attitude from her and I certainly don't from parents like you either.  Everyone can tell you that.  I don't condone her trash talking but sometimes its warranted.  When a 12 year old keeper calls another 12 year old a B**ch on the field but then gets mad when she celebrates scoring on said keeper, she's the one talking the trash. Yeah right.  People in glass houses REALLY shouldn't throw stones and then hide behind new screen names like Forrealz.

Crowning the next Marta, I'm not putting that label on her but others are entitled to their opinions.  To be honest, I want her to better than Marta, Mia, Abby, Alex, Carli and the rest but that comes with patience, perseverance, determination, hard work, and the ability to overlook obnoxious parents and just play her game.

BTW, I'm not concerned with colleges looking at her at 12. If she gets an offer great, if she does not I'll be fine with that too. Hopefully I'm raising her to rely on more than just soccer to shape her future. She's a straight A student. I'm more concerned with her grades and staying on top of her class than I am with whether or not she gets a college offer to play soccer. I'll leave all that sole focus on playing soccer in college to you....... Forrealz.

I would never say a word to a player on field and I'm sure girls on every team talk. This game in question was against 11 year olds. According to the parents there were no 12 year olds on the field as I asked.

Still my DD looks forward to playing yours this season. Hopefully they can all keep the chatter to a minimum.

Well focus should be school at the end of the day that will open more door anyways. Most scholar are based on grades first and sport second. At least on the women side and having that gpa high as possible will keep more door open.

I have to say if a parent from the opposing team feels the need to talk trash to a 12 yr old they should be escorted out. Also trying to hurt other kids comes from the parents or coach usually. This is a game and it's little kids playing. The adults that push violence, and that's what it is, are sick. Kind of a sad statement about ntx soccer.

Yep. What's worse the side official usually don't do anything about it either. NTX should spend some money on better training as well and classes for ref. I'm not sure but do refs get license category like coaches ? If not they should

Re: Congratulations

Adrenalinetx, what's the difference?  Trash talk is trash talk regardless of where it is being said.  I have always told her to be respectful and to NEVER say anything to an adult.  She generally tells me when some adult is saying something to her if I don't hear them myself.  If she has ever said anything to any adult during a game, I apologize.  That is not how I'm raising my daughter.

As for as 11 year olds, are you saying they don't talk trash?  I'm pretty sure they do.  They trash talk in the 06's.  The only 04 team we've played recently was DTS 04 in the Final of the Dallas International Soccer festival a couple weeks ago and those little girls definitely talked a lot of trash and yes mine talked it right back. Maybe I'm missing something.  11 year olds can trash talk to 12 year olds but because they are younger, the 12 year olds shouldn't say anything back.  Duly noted!

IKR we should let ole Solar Hopkins rest but this is probably the most interesting discussion in the 03 forum in a long time.  We can all agree or disagree.  #23 is a trash talking for no reason, 12 year old who should play up and she and I should show some humility because college coaches aren't going to put up with our attitudes. LOL!

I know most of this is all in fun or what some call poking the bear but I can roll with the best of them. Just know poking this bear or her cub is not always a good idea.  I haven't posted this much in a while.  Nite nite, Adrenaline and Forrealz.  Holla at me on the pitch next time you're around.

Re: Congratulations

Post by InaB on 17/08/15, 09:52 pm

I wish I knew the name of one ref from last season. He was so on top of trash talking between two teams that played before we did. He not only cautioned the parents but he stopped the game several times to admonish the girls. (I believe they were 98s.) When he told two opponents to shake hands after practically wrestling each other to the ground, one put out her hand and the other refused and rolled her eyes at him. She got a yellow card. He then asked them again to shake hands. The girls did, but the one did it grudgingly. In the last few minutes of the game that same girl dropped the F bomb and knocked a girl down when the girl got by her and scored. When she got a red card, she cursed at the ref. The ref told the coach to take her off the field or he would have to leave the game. The coach was not happy, but he took the girl off the field. The parents, in the meantime, were cursing out the ref. The coach yelled at them to get their daughter and leave the game.

This was almost the worst I have ever seen, but it was second to a game year before last when the ref threw out all of the parents of one team for their behavior.

Ah, the quiet, serene game of soccer!

So I get this right; a "Congratulatory" thread has been hijacked to discuss: 1) SRSA guest players, 2) Solar Chelsea should play up, 3) Solar Chelsea has speed but no talent (would love the explanation about how these two things are mutually exclusive), 4) Solar Chelsea having PPL players, 5) Parent's arrogance, and 6) #23's attitude and trash talk. First of all, a reset, Congratulations Solar Chelsea for representing NTX and winning the tournament. Also, Congrats to Sting Dunstan (kinda got lost in the mix here). And now to address all the rest of this mess. Solar Chelsea did bring on 4-5 new players and they had to get up to speed with this team. Yes, they brought on at least 2 LH D2 players and at least one PPL player. This team has speed and talent all over the park. Solar Chelsea has a big target on their back and they recognize it. They will eventually lose but in the meantime, the sideline should celebrate. And finally, #23's attitude and trash talk. If you're watching Ronaldo play, don't try to make her Messi. This girl can play and we should all appreciate the talent! And yes, I just created this account because I have a problem with personal attacks by adults on a 12 year old. This thread moved away from the general team discussion into specifics about an individual
