Great point reco. Your right about why DT Red got the nod. It was done hoping Red would do well and it would help the PPL street credit. (For lack of a better phrase.)
I totally feel for Sparta. It has to get old beating up on everyone else and feeling denied moving up the ladder. My gut tells me their time will come soon. It just shows how vital qualifying was the first year and how it affects everyone's path. I remember the shock when Sparta didn't qualify for The Super group or D3. Much respect to Sparta 03 for keeping on the path!

Looks like the lowly DT Red Plano team held their own in Gold. (Scratching heads wanna know) No blowouts nor demoralized. I hope you don't gamble recco.
Is D1 that good? Really?

As a side note DT Red's ECNL midfielder was unavailable this weekend and their goalie was a field player for a majority of the tourney.

Also, seeing some of the other Gold games, I do believe Sparta and Odyssey would have advanced in Gold this weekend. The "gap" is not as wide as some would have you believe.

I guess I'm gonna have to go watch this Sparta team play. People on this board making them out to be world and would have advanced in the Gold division, yet they haven't played or beaten anyone in the top 10.

Sparta has speed and they like to kick and gun. That's the American soccer!!!

From the two I would say odyssey plays much better (ball control and passing ). In the long run they will be the better team.

I didn't realize that DT Red 03 had a dual rostered midfielder playing in ECNL on a PPL team. Is that what I hear you saying?

You have most definitely not seen us play or your team has been beaten by the speed we can use from time to time

Adrenalinetx.... I used to think the same thing(run and gun), until i watched them play. Odyssey is a strong team for sure.
Doublevision (great name by the way) go watch them play and post your input. That team just wanted a chance to compete against the top 10.

Great matchups at UTD this am. Both games going to OT. Sting Dunstan 1-0. Odyssey/Sparta was a great game. Went to PKs. Sparta to the Final 2-1.

Wow, who lit a fire under Sting Hilton? 11 goals for, none against! Quite a performance by those kids.

Good luck to them at 1 today vs the giant in the group!

Solar wins as expected. Although Elite played them extremely well, and Sting played courageously in spells they are probably the best 03 team playing in 03 LH that you will see all year. I'd expect them to win every tournament they play as they are generally a cut above everyone else.

I would not expect anything to change until ECNL and Age Pure hit....then we'll see how things shake out after that.

Congrats to all the teams that played their hearts out in the very hot and humid temperatures and hope all the bumps and bruises heal in time for next league games.

Enjoy your labor day everyone!

Ddub,
Your right, DT red didn't get blown out. Then again, they didn't play anybody.

Adrenalin

You don't know what adrenalin is, until you play or version of kick and gun. We utilize speed, as every tesm with it does, and when we can't, we control the game and wear them down until we can. Mant dimension, many dimensions!

Recco,I think you knew the schedule when you prognasticated the blowouts incorrectly. That's like saying the Cowboys will get blown out by the Bills but when it doesnt happen you say well the Bills arent anybody. Lol, c'mon man, tied one D1 and gave up 2 goals to a highly touted D1 on this board. Just a simple, "I was wrong" would suffice.

ddub68. I do agree with you, DTX RED requested Gold like other teams did. Nothing bad to say about this team or the girls-- Playing 3-6 games in the heat against good North Texas talent is tough. The tournament director is the one that places the teams.
Great job to all the players. We the parents are the ones that just had to sit and watch them play.
