Pure year age groups Empty Pure year age groups

Post by soccerpapa2 21/09/15, 08:34 am

So I've been hearing several versions of how the pure age groups will be implemented in Lake Highlands. One that they will roll it in with younger age groups, another that all age groups will be affected.
Does anyone have the insight in which way the league is leaning?

It's not happening, just a lot of people fear-mongering.

Why do you think its not happening? Its a nationwide mandate, what makes LH an exception to what's to come?

'04 bye becomes an '03 bye. Clubs, teams, and players decide how they want to implement.

I think the true 04's that aren't getting much PT on the top teams may look at tryouts for top 05 teams next season. It will likely have a trickle down affect and even things out across the board in all age groups. May not matter much when the change comes.

There you go with the fear-mongering (not serious). In U-little every coach believes he's splitting/doubling his teams. I don't know how that math works.

Seriously? How many threads can we have on here about the AP thing? This "change" will change nothing for the 04s except starting in August they'll be U12 instead of U13. The main impact will be the entering U11 class. The real question is who will move to ECNL?

The clubs that do not have strong teams, above and below to shuffle players around, believe nothing will change. I'm not saying they are wrong, just pointing out it out.

Personally, I try to remain in the 4 real dimensions and in that world, the weak get weaker and the strong get stronger. I would imagine this to be the case when the magical age reclassification occurs.

My DD is a Jan 04.  I think I might be foolish not to at least consider playing her in her proper age group.  So anyone assuming all the girls that have to, will just play up, may be in for a rude awakening.  People will have options.

Also- if you really look, the top 04 teams have a large percentage of 03 players on them (Aug-Dec). Its not rocket science.

I agree that you should consider your options. You should always consider playing her at the level of competition that is appropriate to maximize her level of development.

It couldn't hurt to have one or two more. The boards are getting kinda boring.

Everybody is saying that the 04 teams should get byes into 03 LH, and the 05s should get byes into the 04 LH, etc. What about teams that are 80% age pure now and will choose to stay in their same age group? What byes do they get?

This is going to be a mess to sort out. Hopefully, LH can put the politics aside and apply common sense to make it fair for everyone involved.

True.  Three options:

1.) Either you play up with the oldest player on your team (with bye).
2.) Find a new team you can play up (with bye).
3.) Find a AP team.

These are you options.

the first mistake is thinking it will be fair to EVERYONE. Thats impossible. Your best option is to be a player (or in NTX a significant payer) and you will land somewhere

If the club has a bye in the younger agegroup, players can shuffle there.

Common sense, from the people who came up with this????

U12 DI = 15 Teams
1st thru 8th place earn a BYE and remain in DI
9th thru 13th place earn a BYE and position in DI pool playoff matches
14th and 15th place earn a BYE and move to DII
U12 DII = 8 Teams
1st place earns a BYE and position in DI pool playoff matches
2nd and 3rd place earn a BYE and remain in DII
4th thru 6th place earn a BYE and position in DII pool playoff matches
7th and 8th place earn a BYE and move to DIII
U12 DIII = 10 Teams
1st place earns a BYE and position in DII pool playoff matches
2nd place earns a BYE and remain in DIII
3rd thru 10th place do not receive a BYE and must re-qualify There will be 4 open spots for DIII in QT

The bigger clubs wont be phased at all, it will likely actually help some their teams, most of the top players on just about every squad have late birthdays. Most teams will move up to keep bye and some of the parents of 04's that stay with those teams may end up regretting it. Do you think these coaches are going to turn down that talented January-July 03 that wants play on a top D1 team currently 04. Some of you parents may want to keep your eyes peeled during open tryouts in June there will be lots more drama and lots more movement. The kid that has been a starter on the team since academy just may be warming that pine behind a true 03 when next season starts!
