HS Varsity soccer transfers

Inquiring about HS varsity transfers? I noticed a standout player from Plano East last year who plays at SL Carroll this year per DMN pics. This may be similar to football where new coach/teacher is hired and dd transfers.

Yeah, not sure about this story. Southlake focuses on football recruits, but not girls soccer.

But, USWNT caliber recruit headed to A&M. Maybe.....

Don't know all of the exact details, but UIL has rules in place regarding transfers. I believe that the AD from the school where the kid is transferring out of signs a form and indicates on the form whether or not they believe that the transfer is due to "athletic" reasons or due to normal family circumstances (i.e. parent got a new job and has to relocate, etc.).

If the transfer is deemed to be due to athletic reasons, the kid has to sit out for a year, or play a year on JV, before they can play varsity at the new school.

With that said, a girls soccer player transferring from Plano East to Southlake doesn't smell too much to me. Football is driven by the HS programs. Girl's soccer is driven club soccer. Her club team is what is going to drive her access to the next level, not her HS team. Doesn't make sense to me to move your kid 45 minutes across the metroplex just so they can play girls soccer at Southlake HS. If you wanted your kid in a better HS program than Plano East, there are plenty of options (Plano, Plano West, Allen, etc.) much closer.

My guess is this was a legitimate family move, but that is just my guess.

Well, factor in a coach with a HUGE ego and a win-at-all-cost mentality, the pieces start to fall into place. Especially since SLC got blanked big time in the state final a couple years ago, the coach feels he has something to prove, he found a way around the rules. Smells VERY fishy to me.

I know former players for said coach, and they all speak very highly of him. I know current club players who play for said coach. I think the comment unfair. Are there girls' soccer coaches with huge problems? Yes. But usually they involve abuse, hidden crime issues, inappropriate behavior with team moms, etc. He is a very upstanding guy. Driven? Yes. Immoral? No. If you chose to send your DD to a large public school with a well-known program, you know what you are getting into. BTW, I understand the comment, I am not trying to be snarky. :-)

Guess he needs to recruit a little better...
