All these leagues and academies are for us parents to buy into and relay the "significance" to our children.
Im not denying that there wont be a star or two that will emerge from the NTX soccer landscape, but what are the odds? seriously....what are the odds?

For these reasons you have stated is why leagues and divisions have been teered. In going through the DA process as we speak. Their are girls choosing DA over high school. The important issue here is that girls are given a choice to pursue soccer and the level that fits their priorities and needs. Hence multiple leagues and levels to participate in.

Re: 05 JDL
From my perspective, the fallacy here is making a 12 year old decide what he/she wants to do several years from now. I get what you are saying and there likely isn't a right answer, but DA at 12 is more often than not a kid pleasing the parent more so than it is a true passion. Once they figure out they can start making decisions on their own and not be worried about what dumb old dad wants, that's when it will become clear whether the decision made at 12 was the correct one.

Yeah...in high school.....
but 6th grade? I thought 6th grade was all about making slime?
Im going to be patient and see how the landscape levels out before I hunker down on an opinion.
but i have another serious question....
Are the coaches that were only select coaches going to train differently with an "ECNL Coach" title? Same for ECNL coaches promoted to "DA Coach."
Are they required to further their licensing? If they were equipped to develop at a higher level then why would they wait until getting a higher title to do so?
There aren't any college professors with only an associates degree are there?

because tiering wasn't available under the old system - you know, ECNL, LHGCL, PPL, High School, etc.
Under the new system, 1 in 10,000 will have a chance to play on a USWNT, the top players will be coached by the best coaches, girls will actually play in leagues / tournaments where they can get exposure to DI college coaches (maybe even get a scholarship), and the masses who have no such aspirations can actually play with girls that are in their grade.
or was that under the old system?
Seriously - who could dispute that under the new system, coaches will undoubtedly be even better now with a DA tag instead of an ECNL tag, development will be improved by shifting to calendar-year teams, and more travel teams / exposure / cost is well worth it for #s 100-200 given how much better the Houston / Austin / OK soccer talent is than Dallas.

Hey...guess Im not alone in my views.
I think the girls who dont make the DA will feel the same way the girls who didnt make ECNL this past year felt. They'll have to settle for ECNL like they did composite teams. always the bridesmaid and never the bride.

The USSDA doesn't make the coaches any better. We all know who they are and know the limits to their skills. Do not pretend that Coach [blank] who was a mediocre select or ECNL coach can now get your daughter to the USWNT.

15K a year for college? Maybe if you go to a community college or UTA. Big's will run 30K a year. Privates (SMU, Baylor) will run upwards of 50K

Re: 05 JDL
So where do the 05 JDL girls go from here? Will they try and qualify into LH and stay together or disperse to other more appealing teams like ECNL or DA. My guess is they tried that already and were put on JDL team. After this year is over that is.

Re: 05 JDL
Well.. If the girls love their team and teammates and want to stay together then they can:
1. goto QT and sweat it out in July/August to earn a spot in LHGCL
2. goto Primetime, PPL, APL
3. Try to get the team in Champions League
Some girls who have developed in JDL and have the skills may be able to move to an ECNL team or DA.
Some girls may want to stay in the same club and fullfill an opening on a D1 LH team. Some may want to change clubs and goto a team in a different club at the D1 level, or tryout for an ECNL or DA team at a different club. Some may want to take a gap year and just concentrate on skills and give a skills trainer all their money..
Some may decide to play soccer for their middle school. I know a couple of girls who tried out for the boys soccer team and is killing it. Some may decide to quit soccer and tryout for the football, basketball, volleyball, track team. I even know a girl that became a rockstar football player in middle school. She may get out of sports altogether and decide to join the math club or science club and build robots or help Trump defeat the axes of evil by inventing something cool.
Again.. the choices are limitless. YOU may not like the choices, but your daughter has a ton of them to choose from.

My DD is not in JDL, I do not like the premise and the shifty changing ideals that it brings. Never has and never will be. Just my thoughts though.TxFutbal wrote:Well.. If the girls love their team and teammates and want to stay together then they can:

3. Try to get the team in Champions League That is a head scratcher right there.

Very well I might add. Just looking at it from another persons perspective. For most of these 05 girls in JDL the options are very slim because they obviously did not make ECNL or try for DA which is the only steps up.

You're right about that Kc there is only one league and it's DA. If you listen to the wackos they will talk about ecnl and lh but those aren't a real choice.

Better hope they find a spot with their current club in LH or TCL... otherwise they'll be coming to your DD's club to take her spot...
