Switching Coaches/Clubs - What to ask before joining? Empty Switching Coaches/Clubs - What to ask before joining?

What are the top questions that should be asked when considering a new coach? Or what should a family/player consider when making a coaching/club change?

Whatever question you feel is appropriate, and if the answer, or the manner in which the answer is given, doesn't sit right with you, move on down the road...

You are the parent.  This is your child.  Look out for their best interest.

I totally agree your statement " if the answer, or the manner in which the answer is given, doesn't sit right with you, move on down the road..."

It's common sense...  Let's say you're new to the whole NTX Competitive soccer landscape, and you ask a question that more "seasoned" parents would already know the answer to...  If the coach rebukes you or responds in a manner that suggests he/she thinks you're an idiot for asking that question, then what he/she is telling you is "I don't have tolerance or time for parents who don't already know their way around the landscape."  Well, I don't care how "good" the coach and or team are, your chances of being happy with that choice of coach/team, at this particular time, aren't good.

A different coach may respond differently, reading or understanding that you are new to the landscape, and will take the time to patiently answer your question in a respectful manner.  That coach is telling you that he/she is willing to work through the process with you and your DD.  Chances are, you will be much happier with that choice at this time.

It also doesn't mean that things won't change down the road, and there may come a time when the first coach mentioned becomes the better choice for your DD.

The key to remember is that you are the PARENT.  Put your child's best interests at the forefront, and the likelihood that both you and she will have a good experience with club soccer increases dramatically.

Depends on what you are looking for and why considering a change as well as the particular situation, needs and wants for your DD and family.

And what bwgophers said. 'You are the parent. This is your child. Look out for their best interest.'

Questions need to be reviewed before meeting with the coach. Review your questions with your DD to make sure you are both on the same page. Be specific with your questions!
