How long does NTX put up with abusive belittling coaches?

How long does NTX women's soccer put up with abusive belittling coaches? The women in NTX should not have to put up with abusive coaching. This post is the opportunity for us as parents to voice against coaches that employ abusive language and belittling tactics towards our girls. It is important that we speak out and let the consumer know the clubs that employ these coaches and who they are.

How about not signing with one... or are we really discussing a contract not being offered or being pulled.

If parents get fed up, coach wont have a team to sign following year. Happened this year actually.

Why should we have to do anything? NTX soccer, clubs, and DOC's should have a zero tolerance of grown men treating young women poorly. These coaches are allowed to say and do awful things towards young ladies.

No I'm not concerned about contracts or even one being pulled. I have just experiences to many times coaches saying and doing awful things to young women and NTX soccer and the clubs doing nothing.

With a educational background, contract or no contract these coaches should be reprimanded or fired on the spot.

C'mon, you know the drill. The first default of any club DOC is that the parent is crazy. 99% of these things occur outside their view.

So it is incumbent on parents to spread the word. The other problem is in NTX soccer 'abuse' is very subjective. I have a list of coaches I would never subject my dd to. However, they sign kids year after year.

Well, I have met a lot of parents in my time in NTX soccer and have found most to be very nice people. With the world the way it is evolving how can we as parents voice our say when coaches continually berate and belittle players with abusive language and continue to coach.

One of our top women's club continue to allow a man to treat women players inappropriately. Zero tolerance, should be exhibited by the the club and even NTX soccer.

Oh, coaches do these things to prepare your DD for college and what it will be like. Bull Shit!

The drill is wrong!

Inherently with that logic then everyone with an abusive attitude would have to be treated the same way. Sidelines might be pretty bare too with all that ref abuse.

I agree, and many times these parents are asked to leave the field.

Part of the issue I think is post like this. You elude to an issue and want parents to change yet you yourself wont mention club or name the coach. It sucks but soccer is a small world and people dont want to burn bridges for fear they may cross paths with X club or coach in the future.

As a consumer, we have choices in allowing our children to play for a particular coach. Parents should do their research and not sign if they are uncomfortable with a coach. I would put the responsibility on parents first to protect their children. I would not allow my child to be subjected to mental or emotional abuse, so I will take action before expecting the league to do anything. The most effective action to protect your child would be to avoid signing with that type of coach.

Parents can also submit formal complaints of violations of the code of ethics/conduct to NTX. If you experience significant violations, report those actions in writing by providing details (coach, date, time, specific details as to what happened, etc). You can find the specific code of ethics/conduct on www.ntxsoccer.org.

Oh I was just waiting for this post. Dallas Sting, coach is TP. Buyer beware, and Sting continues to allow this guy to abuse young ladies.

Good. As my dd does not play for Sting I can say when looking for clubs he was someone we noticed as she would eventually end up on one of his ecnl teams. I dont disagree with your asesment.

stay away from this guy! I'm pretty sure their are others that were with him that would be glad to give you the horror stories. After the owners criminal mischief and now the DOC allowing the abuse from this coach. This is just criminal from a female club.

This is not a group of people that is small and fits under the title of abusive in a nice neat little package. Rather there are different levels that may have different kinds of people labeling one abusive.
Many think being abusive is just yelling at their kid. This may or may not be true.
Do not have time to explain to those lacking the basic skills to indifferentiate the levels.

You assume people are watching their DD's practice? Come on 75% of these parents don't have a clue about what's going on from day to day; much more important to go get that half decaf vanilla mocha choco latte. Nah just drop them off and blindly trust the relationship between a guy and their 10 year old daughter.

2 other points I'd make...

1. We as parents should demand more from clubs and the DOC's.
2. As parents we should find the parent corrals at certain clubs unacceptable. Yes I understand that at some point the umbilical cord needs to be cut but it never sits well with me being 200 yards from a coach that I'm entrusting my daughter to.

As parents you MUST do your due diligence and do the research. Before my DD went from Rec to club...there were several coaches who approached me asking for her to play. I quietly went to games and practices and watched how they coached. Hence why my dd has only had 2 coaches in 5 years. The first we left because DD was playing up and the team was going select and second we are still happily with. I have had the horror of being at games where coaches are cursing out the girls and belittling them and the parents seem to be in a trance. As long as the parents are ok with that then the coach will continue to do that.

So.....
-Does your coach scream or yell? Cussing or just asking them to do what they should?
-Are they pushing your kids to be their best or yelling at them to do something they have not even tried and when they fail, more yelling.
-Is your kid a pansy and every time the coach challenges them they run to you and say coach is mean.
-Are you with the big bad coach just to win, and don't care about the abuse?
-Are you calling it abuse when it's really just called coaching?
-Are you with a coach that yells when your kid doesn't have the basic skills that they should have have been taught by that particular coach? And then yells more when they don't go get them privately from a real skills coach.
-Do you sit there and coach your kid from the sidelines of practice thinking that you are a better voice than the coach? When they don't listen do you yell at them on the way home?

Something to note: several posters referred to just male coaches. I've also seen PLENTY of FEMALE coaches that let fly with the disparaging and abusive comments. Just sayin...
