No more gap than any other year. DA opened up a vacuum that was filled underneath it. Everybody moved up. D1 is now DA, D2 is now D1/Champions league, D3 moved to D2, PPIL D1 moved to LH D3. Of course all of those overlap just like every year.

I would think D1 is now probably DA/ECNL. Three DA and five ECNL teams. What is the average number of players on these teams?

16 who are somewhat getting their money worth, and then another 7-9 who will greatly overpay to watch their daughter sit on a bench or not even attend the games.

Thus the benefit of dual rostering ECNL and Champions League players on LH teams.SD69 wrote:With very limited substitution rules, even some of the top 16 will see very limited PT.

You can't put a price on being able to tell all your friends and co-workers that your daughter "plays" on a DA team

Re: 2017 LHGCL QT
That's a very real phenomenon that's identical with players that would rather get limited playing time (bottom 1/3rd) in LH instead of dropping down to PPIL where they can get more playing time and develop at a faster rate. From the parents standpoint they'd rather pay the high dollar for LH than PPIL as well and most of it comes down to pride and the illusion that LH D3 is a huge step above PPIL D1. You should see how some LH players view PPIL players that try out for their teams. Complete snobs to the PPIL players many times and that's before they've even seen if the PPIL player has game (which many times they do).purplefrog wrote:JewelsBMF wrote:G21DD wrote:SD69 wrote:You forgot ECNL.

There's talent at every level and on every team regardless of the league. I personally heard that a rec player tried out and made one of the DA teams recently.

Yes, there is a big difference between LH D3 and PPL. I will admit there are a FEW PPL teams that can compete with a FEW LH D3 teams, but for the most part any LH D3 team would beat any PPL team. Same with LH D2 and LH D3. There are a few D3 that can compete with a few D2, but thats it. Same with D1 and D2, etc.

Re: 2017 LHGCL QT
At this point LH has been watered down enough that you'd be hard pressed to find many difference makers in D3. Sure there may be some talent that has stuck around through loyalty but overall the girls are all at the same level. IMO this is the same level a lot of the PPL girls are playing at.
I guess we will see in August but my guess is only 1 of the D3 teams from last year will re-qualify this year.

Re: 2017 LHGCL QT
If the LH teams were so watered down and lost 10 or whatever? Where did they get the replacement girls? My guess is many came from Plano. So except for the few that remained loyal to their team I would assume that many PPL teams are shuffling too. Just like every year.ElClassico wrote:I think you need to watch some of these D3 teams practice this year. The player movement has hit them pretty bad. I have a feeling the PPL teams actually stuck together more and will be set to make noise in the QT. Think about it, wouldn't you expect a team of girls that have played PPL together for the past 3 years to be stronger than a D3 team who just lost 10 players? The 2 FCD teams may be the exception as I believe both have stuck together. And the one that has to re-qualify has a pretty good new coach.

Re: 2017 LHGCL QT
Quite often, teams that get relegated have trouble staying together. Losing breeds unrest and people go looking for greener pastures.
Teams that are at the top of the lower division and win a lot tend to stick together and carry that momentum in qualifying, and/or through their promotion into the higher division.
It's not rocket science to figure out...

Re: 2017 LHGCL QT
Disagree that there's a big difference between LH D3 and PPIL D1. More than a few top PPIL team can beat LH D3 teams. Bottom 5 of LH D3 are on same level as top 5 of PPIL D1. Flip a coin on who wins. That's not a huge difference. That's very little difference.purplefrog wrote:ElClassico wrote:at this point is there a difference between LH D3 and PPL?

Regarding QT we know that AYSES was a goal away in each of the last two years. Teams that have good chances of qualifying include (in no particular order):
-AYSES Gold
-America's FC
-Lady Aztecs
-FCD WTX Yoshinobu
-RFC Black
-FCD ETX Haskins
-CDA Trophy Club
All seven of those teams are as good or better than the bottom five of LH D3.
