Physical play has and always will be part of soccer. Lets not use the my daughter hit the dirt so it must be a foul excuse. Hard foul maybe. Most coaches will give the way to play tough line to them as they return to bench after the yellow.

As far as calling a coach out for a well earned reputation. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

Jack --

While I can understand that not knowing and being told in the matter of fact tone in which I tend to write could be construed as annoying to you.  However, when you went back to edit your shallow "focus" to shallow "existence", I think we'd all agree that was a bit much.

So just curious ... What is it about any of my posts that you are mistaking as shallow?

Regarding the beratement of coaches here ... Being a coach myself and knowing both of the two you have referred to over the past couple of weeks here, I can tell you that what you've written is irresponsible (and shallow for that matter).  While KW does need a lot of work on the temperament end of things, she wouldn't coach her kids to intentionally hurt another kid.  Regarding JK ... You weren't there and have no knowledge of the situation so best not to spew nonsense.

And unless you are going to actually discuss/argue a statement in one of my posts, let's keep the insults to a PM ... Outside of a few masochists, it's a waste of everyone's time on this forum.

K? ... Thanks Sir.

Sorry ern...I missed this this post....thank god! I'd pm insults to you but it's too much work.

So anyone want to comment on the DA results, quality of play and player movement between ECNL and DA or should that be between DA and ECNL ?

DL is the new PL. Development is the new moneymaker word. Premier is so passé.

Sure newbie --

From what I've seen, the U13-U15 results have been predictable for the most part.  FCD and Solar are strong, as are the CO sides.  Lonsetar and Dash are formidable, the KC teams aren't great and Texans U13/U14 will be fine once they start playing their top players in DA next year.  You can expect the Frontier Division to grow by a couple next year -- removal of a non competitive club (or two), and addition of a few that are applying (Albion, Challenge, TSC, OK Energy).

The only movement from ECNL to DA I have seen or heard of in these age groups has been close to zero and only due to injury.  Movement from DA to ECNL isn't possible without a bunch of hoops and paperwork ... haven't heard of that happening at all to this point.

And you know that most on this forum wouldn't respect anything I have to say regarding "quality of play" just because one of my kids plays on a DA team ... so ... that makes sense, but I'm sure we'd all love to hear someone else's take.  Anyone else out there seen anything other than LH teams play?  Has anyone else watched the PPL, LH, JDL, CL, ECNL and DA level recently so that they can make an educated comment regarding quality of play in DA ... Anyone?

I will make this short. GDA is here to stay and all the other leagues will be great places for players to play and enjoy the game. The numbers of players paying full cost will support these DA programs. I can see an addition of one more team in Houston , one team in Oklahoma , and one less team in Dallas. Yes local leagues in Dallas will continue to water down, but the cost to play will stay the same and even become greater as money is needed.

DA is on top of the pyramid scheme. The bottom dwellers always pays it good to not be the last.

We're also all dying for you to elaborate on your thoughts on the "new league" coming next year ... and the "watered down" teams ... and especially on your definition of a "pyramid scheme".

I need some of what this guy is smoking. I also need his job so I have enough free time to troll this board whilst enjoying the substance. Tell you what...I’ll switch Soccer tabs with you. Gladly. DA ain’t cheap. Not sure where everybody is getting that.

DA will be cheaper in a few years with no dues but spend more than any other league regardless

The problem with DA for me is the sub rule and the conference standings. I’d take those out. Make the showcases the playoff qualifiers and league play more developmental. Just my 2 cents for what it’s worth.

Sub rules are in all national leagues. Probably in place for development and to prevent joystick coaching.

I mean no reentry. I’m not talking basketball subbing.

No sh##. Thank you for clearing that up. I don’t like the sub rule in DA. They should change it. Is that any clearer?

Re: First official 03 DA game ends in a draw

Post by newbiefornow on 06/11/17, 04:58 am

I think Frontier is pretty competitive. What I've noticed overall is that no team in the entire DA U15 has a clean record.  There have been some blow out wins and a couple of surprises. If you look very closely on-line you'll see that in NTX a couple of players have moved from a DA team to a different ECNL team. I do need to get a life.

DA is cheaper (by a few hundred bucks) for the participants and is competitive. The subsidy is coming from US Soccer not from other players (parents). Having said that ECNL is really great too and is more oriented to High school and participation in other sports so will fit some very talented kids and their parents.

Next year will be interesting for '03 since there isn't a fully recognized U16 DA Team. It's U16/U17 combined and based on this year that's 80% U17.

Last comment hopefully for a while. We're not paying to play. We're paying for a professional coach, decent facilities and the infrastructure to run a league and a club.  The "level" doesn't really change the cost that much. It's a cost+  structure not a "value+" structure. The value needs to be in the personal and athletic development of your DD because otherwise it's a terrible deal. I think it's a very good deal but I have been accused of being naive before and I'm sure I will again.

Get those birth certificates fixed up for the DA changes next season. It's going to be some good entertainment.
