Beat TFC. Bad choice of words. They merely got a better seed and played weaker competition. If both teams had played the same competition and FCD Red came up on top..then you could say they beat TFC. Cross over brackets suck. Especially when the tournament organizers don't know how to properly seed them.

Anything can be over analyzed so I will do just that. Very Happy

It came down to FCD Red beating Manchester United ( Goal diff. -21 ) 8-0 and TFC beating FCD Gold West ( goal diff -3 ) 3-0.

At the end of games TFC and FCD Red had 18 points. So go to goal diff. FCD Red was +8 ( hmmm, remember the 8-0 score ? ) and TFC +3 ( Hmmm again remember the 3-0 score ? )

Congrats in the end to FCD Red for a good weekend.

Note: My dd plays for neither of these teams.

I agree congrats to FCD Red. My comment was merely making the point the FCD Red did not beat TFC. What may have happened if TFC had played Manchester (Could have been 10-0) What may have happened if FCD Red had played FCD Gold West. (Could have been a 0-0 tie) Neither happened so we don't know how it would have gone if they had had equal opponents. Again...FCD did not beat TFC.

    Two points regarding the tournament:

The Tournament tie breaker was not equitable, and 8-0 or 9-0 (with 20 mins left) should not count anymore than a 5-0 win.

Also, referees MUST not take it upon themselves to NOT assess RED or Yellow Cards; the tournament rules clearly make provision for them. The referees should SIMPLY enforce the rules and not make them up as they go. Yes, this happened and it affected a game and potentially the Tournament outcome...

So, respectfully Mr/Ms Referee just do the job you signed up to do as best as you can, but don't selectively apply the Laws of the Game, THAT is NOT your job.

Example: Law 12 - Sending off offenses

..."denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity
by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within
    his own penalty area)..."

"You will not hear me cry cause I do not sing the blues"
However, when a tournament changes its published rules for
advanement after the last bracket game has been played,
there's really no reason to return the next year. Which we
    won't be.

    Congrats FCD.

Group C winner should have gone to Semis (as published)... not simply Top 4 point takers...
