    Lake Highlands DII & DIII

Post  strikeforce on Fri Jul 30, 2010 10:53 am

DIII had many changes with (teams going to new clubs to obtain byes & clubs giving byes to lower level teams) who are the 8-9 teams that will be in Lake Highlands? Will DIII be watered down since some teams got their byes without having earned them?
How about DII? Any prediction on if that division will be competitive since some teams didn't earn their byes but were given byes or promoted by their clubs?

Here is the list for DII I think:
    Sting West
    Sting Royal
    Solar Royal (former Tx Spirit)
    ASG Gold
    Texans Red North
    NTx Strikers
    Solar Red. (former FWU)
    FCD Red
    Solar Blue

So is Solar Blue 3rd place D3 last year or Hurst United from last year ?
Or is Hurst United the mystery D3 entry as Solar some other color ?

Yes, this is DII as far as I know. I don't know much about what Solar Blue did over the summer, but they had a good run in the spring, I know they picked up one very good defender and they have been in DII previously, so I would think they will do o.k. But then again we need to play. Smile Sting West kept almost the entire team and added depth, ASG afred well in Puma at U17 level, Sting Royal added depth, FCDR has been rising for awhile, The new Solar Red has added depth and had no significant losses, so I would say DII will have solid teams at first look. Given Sting West kept and added and came from DI I would think they will be very tough.

Usually a team with a bye can recruit based on the bye. This year though some of the byes were/are so under the radar that some may have missed them altogether.

I don't think DII will be like the last 2 years where the champion was the previous years DIII champion. It may happen but I don't think the ride will be as smooth. More competition at the top.

Sting West and Sting Royal will be the top two teams.

    2010/2011 LHGCL U16 Division II
Sting West – Coming down from DI, but returned the majority of their roster. In the Top Three.
Sting Royal – Finished seventh in DII at U14, then third at U15. Trending in the right direction. Returned the majority of their roster for U16. In the Top Three.
Solar Royal (formerly TX Spirit) – Finished second in DII at U14, then fourth at U15. Returned the majority of their roster for U16. In the Top Three.
ASG Gold – Finished fifth in DII at U14, then sixth at U15. (eight new players on the roster. Middle of the pack.
Solar Red (formerly FWUEG) – Finished third in DIII at U14, then first at U15 for promotion to DII. Limited roster changes due to 75% rule. In the Top Five.
Texans Red North – Finished eighth in DI at U14 and were relegated, then sixth in DII at U15. Not trending in the right direction. (10) ten new players on the roster for U16. Somewhere in the bottom four.
NTX Strikers – Finished third in DII at U14 and seventh at U15. Not trending in the right direction. Lost 7, added 4 new players to make a roster of 14. It might be a very long year. Somewhere in the bottom four.
FCD Red – Finished second in DIII at U14 and U15. Lost at least (3) three…impact players that made a difference. Somewhere in the bottom four.
Solar Blue – Good run of being in DII for the first four years, but finished eighth at U14 and were relegated to DIII. Finished third in DIII at U15. (7) seven new players on the roster. Somewhere in the bottom four.

    2010/2011 LHGCL U16 Division III

It certainly appears that way. Solar had a DIII bye to work with....one that required a Bye Fee and Preliminary Roster submission prior to the QT. Otherwise, Solar forfeits the Bye and LHGCL would have filled that spot through the QT...or so the rules appear to indicate.
So who's the mystery team? I think you have to eliminate all of the teams that participated in the QT. Look to the remaining teams that participated in APL/PPL. How about a Sting White...did they disband, or move? How about a Hurst United Red...they're sister team moved to Solar and for a while Red were the new 95 Black on the Hurst website...now Hurst United is saying they will not have a 95 team. Did they disband, or move?

Hypothetically if a club paid the bye fee but is not able to fill a team what then happens to the bye / open spot?

In reading past post it sounds like Texas spirit (now Solar DII team) may not have kept the number of players needed to take the bye with them if this is the case Texas Spirit Club would have the bye?
And back to the orginal question.
Sounding like DII may have a good competition level.
How does everyone feel about DIII aside from the unknow team. Does anyone see a wide range of skill between some on the teams?

arguing one point.....Solar Royal (Texas Spirit) did have enough of the ladies to keep the bye. Spirit didnt keep the bye....the move was well thought out, considered, and understood by the coach and families involved and would not have been made without other considerations being made if needed.
