    Plano placement tourney

Post  ninjadog on Sat Aug 07, 2010 6:18 pm

It's kind of quiet around here so I was thinking of the Plano placement tournament for those who aren't playing in Lake Highlands this year. The following Plano teams from last year weren't at the LH Qualifying tourney. Which ones still exist and who will be playing in the Plano tourney (if there is one)?

    NTX United 98G
    Solar 98G White
    Hurst United 98G
    Nationals FC 98G
    One Time 98G
    Cheetahs 98G
    Rockets FC 98G
    CD Pumas 98G
    Texas Storm 98G
    Solar 98G Silver
    Manchester SC 98G
    DFW Tornados 98G Blue
    TFC 98G Blue
    Alliance FC 98G
    FC Dallas 98G Silver
    Hurricanes FC 98G
    ACES 98G

Liverpool 98 White is in. It is being checked into but I believe FCD West Gold (United) will have a bye and not need to play. Hurst United, I believe also has a bye and will not need to play.

    From the PYSA website:
Priority used in issuing the BYES will be:

      • 1st-4th in PPL Division 1
      • Teams moving from Classic/Lake Highlands to Plano, they will be determined by points in the Challenge games or Lake Highlands Qualifier.
      • 5th-6th place team in PPL

        • Again only 4 BYE’s will be issued

    So that would be:

    1. ASG (3rd place PPL D1).

    2. Aces Black/LP Red (4th place PPL D1) if they meet roster requirements since they changed clubs but I don't think they kept enough.

Next would be the relegated teams from LH:

    3. Sting East (Genesis)

    4. Tyler Azzuri (but I think they are playing API)

If Aces doesn't have the roster requirements for the bye, then the next in line would be Mustangs.

If Tyler IS playing API, then FCD West Gold has the bye; again, if roster requirements are met.

Finally, if FCDWG doesn't have roster for the bye, then Polaris gets it.

Teams no longer in existance, to my very limited knowledge, are: Manchester, FCD Silver, Solar White. Additions to the list for PT would be Juve, Freedom FC, Solar Royal.

Tyler didn't play in API tourney so they must be playing in Plano. Not sure if Solar Royal made. Heard NTX United dissolved.

I think several of the others that didn't qualify for LH will as well. These were just the teams that I haven't noticed in recent tournaments and wondered what became of them.

Wouldn't Mustangs get a bye, as they are dropping down from D3?

You would think so. Don't know how they were impacted by N+1.

I think they're confusing Hurst United with NTX United (now FCDGW). Hurst came in 10th in PPL D1 and wouldn't qualify for the bye. Mustangs should get the bye if they have N+1. FCDGW should qualify for the bye if they have N+1 as well.

I honestly didn't think there would be more teams than last year, but there are actually 5 more!! Jeez.

Is there a possibility some teams won't make the league at all given the number entering the QT?

There's nothing stated in the registration or placement tournament info other than you don't have to participate in the PT. If you choose not to play in the PT, then you will automatically be placed in the lowest division.
