    Aggiemt, I agree “What Priority?” What happened to 5-6 being the last teams in PPL to get byes? What is PPL thinking giving a 10th place PPL1 "Hurst United 98G" team with 1 win and that folded this summer and rose from the dead just in the nick of time to register.

    Ninjadog, FCD West Gold "formerly NTX United 98" did lose some girls but replaced with some excellent girls with better talent and we are all the stronger for it. We should perform exceedingly well in Plano 1 this year despite what those that left would say about us!

    If the PPL board lets Hurst United have a bye they should be ashamed of themselves! This will only make for some sorry competition in PPL1 this year assuming there are any spots left for decent teams! Seems like it more who you know rather than how competitive your team can play. It might be more interesting in APL! I wonder if that’s why so many teams are going over there.

    I'll leaving the PYSA brain-pan picking to someone else...but I'd like to just think it's an oversight. I would assume the coach/mgr from FCDGW will call it to PPL's attn...of course you know what they say when you assume...
    Even so, I'm not sure I get the logic behind Polaris and Tyler playing API other than playing up. Maybe they're hitting Six Flags after the games or something.

    Basically, it's 50% +1...

    Rosters Size = N+1 to keep your BYE

    12 = 7

    13 = 8

    14 = 8

    15 = 9

    16 = 9

    Hadn't heard anything from anyone who left so just wondered if the team was still around. Sounds like the majority of the girls are, just with a new name. Hope to see you for some good healthy competition.

    Has any team ever said they lost talent but didn't replace them with better players???

    The new coach will say it when the old one is fired for losing more games with the new, better players than he did with the old, weaker ones.

    Per PYSA info:
    BYE’s will be issued in age groups U12-U19 to 50% of the teams in Division 1 with a maximum of 4 teams. This will only apply to the Division 1 teams that maintained N+1 and will be based on the combined standings from Fall to Spring of the previous year.

    So Hurst United gets a bye because they qualify for N+1 and fall within what is left of 50% of PPL1 teams?

    Lightning - LHGCL
    Odyssey - LHGCL
    ASG - Bye
    Liverpool Red - Gone
    NTX United - FCD West Gold (not N+1?)
    Polaris - API U14G
    Solar White - Gone
    Andromeda - Gone
    FC Dallas Red - LHGCL
    Hurst United - Qualifies for Bye?

      • 5th-6th place team in PPL

    Based on the above off the PYSA document regarding bye determination, Hurst would NOT qualify for the bye unless PYSA has decided to extend how far down the list they will go in issuing byes. Also, LP Red is not gone, they are now Aces Black but I don't think they have N+1 for the bye.

    I don't know of any current FCD 98WG parents that caught up in the past, or that would take a shot like that.

    A nice try by "Tess/Guest", though.

    Doubtful that this is a legitimate comment from a current FCD 98WG parent.If I'm wrong, Tess, Catch me at practice.

    The exclamatory writing style looks familiar though.

    Seems like the three moving from LH would get a bye before a #10 PPL team

    They would, but if you'll notice in an earlier post Tyler Azzuri is playing up in API, and there's a question as to whether or not Mustangs meets the roster requirements for the bye.

    IMO, I don't think they need to keep going down the list until they fill the 4 byes being offered, IF that is in fact what they are doing. They should stop after 6th place and have everyone fight it out in the tournament.

    I think that is what they did. I believe Hurst turned down the bye. So there may actually only be two bye teams (Sting East and ASG), as the rest didn't meet the roster requirements. I guess the interesting question now is how the heck to they seed based on all the turn-over? Do FCD Gold West, Texans Red West, and Aces get higher seeds than say the Blitz who finished undefeated in PPL2 and maintained N+1? Do they seed based on LHGCL QT finish?

    From the Placement Tournament application it looks like they are basing it on a team's record at their 3 most competitive tournaments last season. Not particularly helpful since so many of the teams are newly formed. I guess higher seeds will go to those teams with 3 tournament's worth of data to submit, which should include King Tut/Puma Cup and QT (even though those are technically "this season"), and after that your guess is as good as mine. There are quite a few on the list who won't have played in anything (to my knowledge) until the PT.
