    guests and all-stars

Yes, at least it was possible last year to include two "guests." For example, Arsenal had a guest from FL (who wasn't registered with an ECNL team and plays for RIII ODP) play for them in the final four games. It is my understanding that this issue was going to be re-visited.

Now there's a thought! Where do we begin?
Truthfully, I think you're right Unc. You can roster up to 26 (but only suit up 18) and I don't think there's anything to prohibit clubs from taking kids from another club (assuming Releases are granted). There are also some funky provisions for adding players along the way. I looked at the rules....but if it takes more than 30 seconds for me to grasp them, I change the channel.

ECNL membership is a "Club" membership, not just a specific team. If Eclipse wanted, they could pull kids off of different teams (from within the club) and use them at an ECNL event....and at a different event, a different mix of kids. There are some roster limitations but they seem to be pretty liberal. What doesn't make sense to me is Eclipse having a team in both ECNL and Natl League....especially since they seem to have common venues for their events. I also can't imagine that ECNL would be cool with duplicate enrollment. (Unc's post came up while I was typing this...it makes more sense if it's 2 separate teams)

Would they even have to be on the club? As I understand, it is simply rostered players at the beginning of the ECNL Season. Couldn't you make an all-star team from many different clubs and register as the D'Feeter's?

An all star team? I believe the new faces at ECNL nationals on the D'Feeter 95 team were players that they actually signed for the upcoming season. They were just lucky to have them come out early enough to make the roster for the July Nationals. I dont think there was any intent to stack the team for the National tournament.

I think Eclipse Select is going to have a team in the ECNL & National League this year. The Eclipse Select team that played in ECNL last year will be there again this year.

I've got connections. Of course this was "off the record" but from a very good source.

So it is two different teams. Wow! So...instead of scoring one for USYSA...which is what I thought when I first saw this..it could be interpreted that USYSA accepted Eclipse Select's 2nd team for National League. That only furthers the notion that ECNL is...or will be eventually...the better league. Am I reading that correctly?

If my source is correct then you are reading it correctly. I guess we will know for certain once league play starts up again.
