DA should be all about the development, BUT so should the Classic and non-classic teams and players. Just because you keep score doesn’t mean you aren’t developing. However some coaches are all about the winning and staying in Classic- look at the rosters, sizes and playing times & styles. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s the best we have.

Every player is playing to win every game. That’s why they call it a game. Winning is always the short term goal...for everyone. It’s the drive for victory that fuels development.

Development is the long term result of repeatedly trying to win.

The two concepts are not mutually exclusive.

Solar at Texans
A teams: Development was pretty much equal. Some would call it a win for both teams, but I think I’d call it a tie.
B teams Development slightly favored Solar, I’d say by about one goal.

Yes I think the Solar West v. Texans South game was about 10-15 minutes into the game when it was called. I was told Texans don't have a backup turf field so they had to put effort into starting the game otherwise they would have been fined $1200 or something like that. Sorry, second hand info. I also heard Tx South (Salazar) only had 9 kids as well. So it was 9v9 (literally). Does Salazar not have that many kids for his first team or were they down players?

I saw the 2nd half. I believe it was 2-2 at the half and Solar scored early in 2nd half to make it 3-2. Honestly I don't think the score reflects how Solar played. They played well, just broke down a little in the defensive 1/3, not much, and I think it was the little things that probably hurt them the most. The Tigres team played well, they were very methodical in their build from the back to the middle and on the attack. I heard that team had been playing together for awhile and have been trying to get into DA for awhile as well.

Not many games this weekend, but I did see the Solar East, FCD result...

1st teams, Solar over FCD 4-0??
2nd teams, FCD over Solar 3-1

I would have had that switched. Impressive result for Solar 1st Team over the Titan of the group.

Wish I could have seen this one.

After posting this from the DA website I know that the Solar W vs. FCD scores are not correct. I believe they are switched. I was there at the 12pm Solar West vs. FCD game and I believe the score was the 2 to 7 score. Not 100% sure. I didn't stay for the second game so not sure of the score of the second game.

Solar West only had 9 players on the first team, no subs. So ZuaZua had the team playing a more defensive formation to conserve energy and then counter. Looked like this formation was working defensively in the first half. I believe it was only 1-0 FCD at the half. Then I think the wheels started to fall off the bus (no pun intended) in the second half.

Gall also made some line up changes. Looks like he brought up the very athletic former PSG 08 BB to the first team who helped exhaust Solar West.

Just my 2 cents.

First Solar West match was SW 0 FCD 5. Second match was the 2-7 scoreline. Not sure why it posted the first game as 0-0.

Is it just me, or is anyone else surprised by the approach to officiating for the U12s? The single referee model is a curious one. Also, several of the referees I’ve seen seem like they are experienced and professional, but then when the games start they are below average Classic League quality. Would have thought that the officiating quality would be higher. Thankfully the age and player quality has helped avoid any matches I’ve seen from getting out of control.
