If you have survived puberty injury and still playing serious ball by your junior year then it might be something to consider.

That's what a shophomore in high school? I don't know if things are changing and people haven't caught up but I'm thinking emailing coaches in 7th and 8th grade isn't that bad of an idea.
Are you sure that they are out of money? They only have 2 girls verbally committed for the 03 class at this time.

Maybe they were just out of money for OK kids. Apparently, if you're a D1 University in Oklahoma, you're only allowed to recruit a maximum of 2 girls soccer players from OK each year.

I believe that is this coaches way of telling you politely that he is not interested in your DD.

That coach is quick to inform you he has no money. Multiple sources have confirmed him saying those exact words when he has been approached.

you`re saying a university team in Oklahoma can only recruit 2 girls from Oklahoma each year. Or are kind of making a joke out of what the coach said?

You tell me? Although apparently Oral Roberts has an exemption to the rule based on religious grounds.

How different is that percentage for soccer recruits, vs other sports vs the schools as a whole in OK?

Dunno. Here’s what I know about women’s soccer.
TX has 7x the population of OK (28 million vs 4 million).
TX has 5.5x more D1 women’s soccer programs than OK (22 vs 4)
TX has 11x as many “homegrown” players playing at their 22 D1 programs than OK has “homegrown” players playing at their 4 D1 prgograms (371 vs 34)

That means each Texas team has, on average, 16.86 Texas girls and each Oklahoma team has, on average, 8.5 Oklahoma girls. Right?

DeltaTauChi wrote:smugrr wrote:Thanks. And there certainly are a number of schools who are technically D-1 but may not have the full complement of scholarships (still 11 rides?) and who do not try to compete against the power schools. Then, of course, you have D-1 schools who use only need based aid (Ivy League and perhaps others).
Fully funded D1 Women's Soccer is 14
Fully funded D2 Women's Soccer is 9.9
** Spoiler alert for real cost**
As a long time follower and seldom poster here, this is the key to what should be explained to ALL parents asking this OP's question. As a parent currently paying the tab of a D2 "scholarship" athlete, I couldn't afford the D1 "scholarship". I don't think this is something that 03, 4, 5, 6 parents even consider. They are at the point of, what do I do to get my daughter to that D1 level of play? Advice for 99% of soccer parents, encourage your daughter to play her best and put in the work, play on a team that has potential to win big tournaments while enjoying doing it, and save your money for the college bill. Ex. Play D2 ball and Dad is out $7k per year on scholarship, Play D1 ball and Dad is out $25k per year on scholarship. It all matters what the degree quality/ education is at that point.... Just my experience.... Pick your battles with the checkbook, and help your daughter achieve the best outcome.
