Under-15 through Under-17 Boys and Girls play slated to begin this fall
2009-2010 marks third season of new league
12 teams to earn direct path to US Youth Soccer National Championships

FRISCO, Texas (August 5, 2009) – US Youth Soccer is proud to announce the teams chosen to compete in the 2009-2010 US Youth Soccer National League season. The League, entering into its third season, is for Under-15 through Under-17 Boys and Girls elite club soccer players seeking to advance their college, professional and U.S. National Team aspirations.

The League is an extension of the highly successful US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues (US Youth Soccer Region I Premier League, Midwest Regional League, Region III Premier League and Far West Regional League). The National League provides an avenue for teams to play in meaningful matches against top competition from across the country for continued development and opportunities for exposure at the next level. In addition to recruiting opportunities, National League teams compete for the league title and two slots to the annual US Youth Soccer National Championships.

The national championships, established in 1976, is the culmination of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series where the nation's champions are crowned in six age groups for boys and girls.

"The US Youth Soccer National League is a great addition to US Youth Soccer programs that focus on the player and his or her development and identification opportunities," said Paul Luchowski, US Youth Soccer National League Commissioner. "US Youth Soccer has long stood as the leader in youth soccer and in the organization of events that allow the country's youth to showcase their talents. The League provides a truly national competition for players to develop and test themselves in meaningful matches and everyone is looking forward to another great season."

As is the case with the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series events and the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program the National League creates another significant opportunity for the nation's collegiate, professional and national team staffs to see players in an environment of meaningful play.

I think they've made it 16 teams in each age group for next year in the NL. Obviously in response to the ecnl. Pretty soon every club will be in some nat. league. Then they will merge and decide to have regional/state divisions (maybe NTX and STX?) of the nat league and basically be back where they started.
