When I was pulling up a field map yesterday I found this description of the "PHP" fields. Seems like if any fields are going to be playable this weekend these have as good a chance as any. This is an awful lot of rain though....

    Sand Based Fields

    • There are a total of 7 sand based fields including the main Stadium Field, FC Dallas adidas Field and 5 general use fields.
    • Each field meets the standards set by the USGA for sand based field construction.
    • Each field has subsurface drainage constructed with ADS perforated pipe which feeds into a perimeter drain loop that leads to the retention ponds. The water in the retention ponds is used to irrigate the fields.
    • The soil profile consists of 6" of lightweight aggregate placed on the hard pan grade followed by 12" of sand that has been blended with peat moss. All materials used meet or exceed USGA standards for subsurface soil drainage and retention rates. The soil profile will drain at a rate of 12"-16" per hour.
    • All fields consist of a hybrid Bermuda grass variety called Tifway 419.

    • All fields are fully irrigated and 16 of 17 fields are lighted.

    • All fields are manicured with reel type mowers daily from 1⁄2 to 3⁄4 inch in height.

    Native Soil Fields

    • There are a total of 8 native soil fields which are fields located north of Technology Road. These fields are general use fields.

    • Each field has perimeter French drains that feed into the retention ponds for reuse in the irrigation system.

    • The soil profile consists of native soil graded for drainage and followed up with 4" of sand laser graded to height.

    • All fields consist of a hybrid Bermuda grass variety called Tifway 419.
    • All fields are fully irrigated and lighted.

    • All fields are manicured with reel type mowers daily from 1⁄2 to 3⁄4 inch in height.

It is supposed to clear off tomorrow with 15-25 mph winds. These fields weren't just staked off in a park. They were engineered. I would be highly surprised if this tournament didn't go off.

Do you really think a break hurts a team? What if they are still practicing but not playing games, does that affect them?

I really have no opinion on the matter. Some coaches take breaks, some continue with practices and some just do indoor/futsal or leave the girls to play their basketball seasons. Whatever the coaches do, they feel like it is in the best interest of both their players and the parents on their team. They are the professionals in charge because what works for one team might not for another.

I find it interesting every spring to see the teams come back and play after the break for several reasons.
1-I get to see most of the girls refreshed and excited to be back on the pitch.
2-Sometimes teams get back their players that were injured during the fall season. I'm always happy to see that happen.
3- Personally my DD is always trying to find a place during the winter break to play soccer. So it gives us back the simple routine of set practices, games, and tournaments.
4- And the sadder side of the return to routine is that some girls switch teams or don't come back.

So what I am actually should have said is...yay fresh air again! What a Face

    scratch scratch

Wow, ahead of both the D1 teams? It'll be interesting.
It could happen though. That team has some firepower.
