What sizes should goals be?
3v3 Goal Sizes U6-U10+
This question is based off our Tournament (see previous posting https://www.txsoccer.net/t9260-3v3-soccer-tournament-june-2012) that we are putting together the weekend of June 1-3, 2012.
We are trying to work with Bownet, but wondering what goal sizes we should get. 3'x5' or 4'x8'. Looking at 3v3 Live, they use 4x8 -- looking at Quickfoot, they use 3x5. The smaller goals would be cheaper for us, if we have to buy them, but wanted to get coaches/parents opinion.
Thanks for your time!

With only four votes so far, the voting is split.
May I get some more feedback please.

Big goals = bad habits
Big goals usually means a large number of shots are coming as soon as they cross the half line. Not many people sign up for 3v3 to learn to play kickball, they are in it to learn ball movement and how to open up the field to create space. One strong footed 8 year old taking 30 shots per half from the half line at a large net is not what I would consider a quality learning experience. Smaller nets generally mean they are going to try to work deeper into the zone before taking shots.

That is a good point. Most coaches/players do want to work on ball movement, etc vs. shoot, shoot, shoot after the half line. The smaller goals (3x5) would also be more cost effective for us; however we wanted to see what all of you Parents/Coaches thought before making our decision.

Just wanted to 'bump' this up for another day or two so we can get more votes. Right now most are favoring 3x5's, but would like to see if others could "weigh in".
Thanks!
Thanks!

Are you working direct with BowNet? Soccer City in Frisco has great prices on the Bownet goals and Rizza is easy to work with.
I would go with the 3x5, don't think many if any would complain...
Are you make the field size 20 x 30, I believe that is what others do if I recall correctly.

I'm not that experienced so I won't weigh in. But will you have a bounce house? Face painting? Snack bar? I'm really not kidding
I always think how great it would be to have something (plus the playground that is usually there) for my other kids to do during these tourneys. Of course, coaches probably wouldn't like it because the players might wear themselves out between games but who cares about them, ha.

We are trying to work with Bownet directly but will stop by Soccer City this week and talk to Rizza to see what he can do for us. I'm going to give the voting until today, but it does look like the 3x5 goals are what we will use.
The fields for the U6-10 will be 20x30, as you stated.
Thanks!

We will definitely have a snack bar/concession stand open for snacks, waters, gatorades, etc. We are working on having a snow cone machine (since its beginning of June and will probably be 'warm'). We were not planning on having bounce houses but are talking about other activities, ie: face-painting.
