In lieu of today's tragedy, I wonder if stricter run control would have prevented today's incident. I'm not saying a complete band on marathons is necessary, but I think we should step back and take a look at this incident and see what how the government can get more involved in run control, specifically, the type of runs available across America.

Agree or disagree, but if runs were not allowed in America, there would have been no loss of life today. I think the answer is simple.

I read on the Internets, that this was a government conspiracy done by the pro run-control radicals at the CIA to expose the danger of organized runs.

Every once in a while, someone demonstrates that they simply lack all humanity. That they are a complete waste of space. You have successfully done that today. Congratulations.

I'm neither. I just give a damn. You, on the other hand, must be a self-centered, egocentric, narcissistic, poor excuse for a human being, who can't wait long enough to let people who actually care about others process what has happened and grieve.

Those your two handles? Semendog and Master Bates??? Really do we have a fetish?

Funny how you go after me for pointing out the obvious and not the OP for posting it to begin with.

Thus..I stand by what I posted.

And there we have it. Your egocentric vision of the world is reaffirmed, where everyone is focused on you and you alone.

My original post was directed at the original posters (specifically, so there can be no doubt, Blank77, Go99, and golgolgol) for their ill-timed attempts at sarcastic "humor" (although I am pretty sure that they were at least trying to make a point, but doing so in an inappropriate time and manner).

My second post was directed at you, "yea ... yea ... whatever," for failing to understand that it was inappropriate and instead resorting to snide, irrelevant, political comments.

By the way, the name is "seamusdog" -- as in a dog named Seamus (a good Irish name). Your misreading of it, well, that's just ... interesting.

So who get's to decide when the timing is right and what's appropriate? If you didn't like the post then don't respond and just move on

Let's see now. Public forum, full of opinions, developed with the intent of soliciting dissenting opinions. And your statement is that "if you didn't like the post then don't respond and just move on"? Seriously. That's what you came up with? Well done.

Perhaps now is the time for some moronic joke about how government should better control school construction because they clearly allowed one to be built in Sandy Hook where a shooting range should have been instead. Oh, stop. I'm laughing so hard it hurts.

Actually there was no opinion at all, only that no opinions should be posted "because the timing isn't right" My comment was that if the timing wasn't right for you then you should just skip that particular topic and move on. I am all about dissenting opinions

What does an off handed joke in poor taste using the backdrop of a tragic event delivered in poor timing have anything to do with competetive girls soccer!?!

I am sorry for the poor timing and the tragedy. If posting something different on this board would prevent it or help at all, I would be glad too. Truth is, there are tragedies everywhere, all the time, I just get nervous about the ones that become a media sensation and the exploitation that is sure to follow. Do you know how many people died today of curable/treatable disease - TENS OF THOUSANDS! How many children here in Dallas are starving, malnurished, abused - we live in a tragic world and for the most part we don't hear a thing about it.

I'm worried about public tragedies and the millions made off of them that don't go to the victims and the overeaction government to public opinion.

I bet you believe those little cameras everywhere are for traffic control.

I don't know about you, but I figure we better get a jump on this before things change. I recommend heading to Academy ASAP and stocking up on as many pairs of running shoes as possible. Probably socks too.

Of course shoe laces will be in short supply, and lets face it the shoes are worthless without laces. I heard the dept of homeland security is buying close to 2 billion shoe laces.
