Shawnee Trail

Congrats to TFC Guzman for taking on all those APL, PPL and LHGCL D-3 Teams to take the gold in the Shawnee Trail this past weekend.

Seriously though - with that many tounrnaments around town, you would think there was something more aligned to them? No?

Teams sign up for tournaments, often it's a roll of the dice on what other teams sign up. I believe league play was still going on. Additionally, geographical location of the tournament determines which tourneys a team will attend. I believe Shawnee Trail is in TFC's backyard. Just like several Solar Teams which played in SoccerFest in Grapevine, the parents got to enjoy a 15 minute commute to play. It's nice for a change.

More often than not, a team will back out if the competition is not "the right level". Maybe they don't want to risk an upset... Then, they get accused of avoiding the competition. Can't have it both ways.

Glad TFC played the games, and congratulations to them on their victories. I'm sure the other teams were thankful for the opportunity to play them to see where their own team needs to develope.

I think teams get tired of playing the same teams over and over again. I know our lowly d3 team enjoyed playing Guzman and had a very close back-and-forth game with them. Other than maybe the Memorial Weekend tournament it doesn't seem that there are many big tournaments going on right now. People need a chance to play with guests somewhere also.

Okay I deserved all that. Looks like I also have egg on my face - their competition Sunday appeared to give them a run for their money. Kudos to your girls, WB!

Thanks! Truly though... I think we've played some of our d3 division mates 4 times this season because we always get grouped together. Something different is good.
