Copa ESPN Dallas 2014

Registration for Copa ESPN 2014 is officially open.  We are going into our 6th year and this tournament is growing very fast and the competition level is getting better as well. For the most part this tournament has only been available for local teams. Last year I invited 6 teams from out of town and this year I would like to invite 10-15 out of town teams. Copa ESPN will be played on April 25, 26 and 27th, 2014 at McInnish and RE Good in Carrollton Tx. Since last April some things have changed in regards to the tournament. As the tournament grows we decided to create 4 Qualifiers: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. The first qualifier took place in November in where we had a little over 80 teams participate. The Champions and runner up from each Qualifier will automatically have a spot to play at Copa ESPN in April to assure better teams. Our next Qualifier (winter edition) will be January 31- February 2, 2014 and the spring edition March 14-16, 2014. *** 2014 Copa ESPN categories will be U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 and U17 with 4 girl categories U11, U12, U13 and U14.

Each year we have over 175 teams apply to have a chance to play in Copa ESPN. Since we only have room for so many, a lot of teams do not get chosen and I become the most hated guy in April  The Qualifiers gives those teams the opportunity to play and earn a spot for Copa ESPN. Applications are examined and selected based upon credentials, tournament history and the individual team’s “trophy case”. This process ensures the highest level of competition and sportsmanship. Several factors are taken into account including (but not exclusive to) current league standing, recent tournament participation, recent match results, etc.

What is Copa ESPN?

- Copa ESPN is going into its 6th year and has quickly become one of DFWs most talked about tournament due to the quality of play and the value of teams compete.

-164 teams/ 14 categories U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 and U14. We also will have 4 girls categories U11, U12, U13 and U14

- In 2013 Copa ESPN went from #101 to #75 tournaments in the country and is now classified as a Premier Tournament according to Got Soccer.

- Reporters will be on site all 3 days blogging and interviewing coaches and players.
