Without independently verifiable scientific data, I just assume that all information emanating from Washington D.C. is a lie. I've found this to be a reliable system since the mid seventies.

As to my original post--in the end all of the teams I know enough about (DD played against a lot, etc) that I thought should for sure be in D1 ARE in. And it was interesting to see scores of other teams who will be vying for D3--many games were closer than I thought they'd be which only means there were several teams I didn't know much about, LOL. I'm hoping the teams for next weekend have steam left because I would think that tournament weekend will be a lot more fun for those girls to play as the games will be closer. I figure you could tell the girls "hey, look how much you improved in just one week" Smile

So IF this year had used the old rule - group winners to D1 after first week - what would have happened in Bracket M? FCD Central Premier & LP Redknapp are level on points, goals for, goals against, & drew 0-0 head-to-head...

Wouldn't giving THEM "two shots" at D1 in case they have a bad weekend be more in line with this rather than allowing some teams that would have definitely been out of LH entirely the 1st weekend (based on the old rule) two weekends of play?

And, no, I'm not speaking as a parent on a team that is "not doing as well as I think they should have."  Smile

Now that the dust has settled, are you ready to start naming some of those teams who are "definitely D1 level" who didn't get in or "teams that are D3 level (maybe high but still D3)" who "squeaked in"? Please name my team, so I can tell you how full of KaKa you are, and I'm not talking about the Brazilian soccer star either.

And what about this disadvantage to "those teams whose overall records for the last couple of years are very good but for whatever reason are playing well but not quite as well this one weekend and who are in brackets lower than E"? Again, KaKa. Could it be that those teams are not playing as well because they are not the same team? Player movement and a fixed roster (no guest players), just to name two, could have had an impact. With respect to overall records, overall records against who? Furthermore, the overall record for the past couple of years really doesn't mean squat unless you have had essentially the same roster and if you've had essentially the same roster and were good enough before, you should be good enough now, unless of course player development is lacking which points to a different issue.

LOL @ FBR rankings. I don't doubt that alot went into them, but i can't imagine that LH does much with them as far as seeding the QT. I mean, this thing is super competitive and means too much to their league to rely on an arbitrary ranking system that they have "no" involvment with. I think I saw it written somewhere on this board that KT uses the FBR to seed it's teams too. I was told by the TD directly that he doesn't know what the FBR is and uses several factors to put the KT groups together. He also doesn't do anything with Got Soccer points either since the KT consists of friendly matches and the format lends to playing similar teams for competition, rather than snake seeding.

Maybe FBR is good, but it isn't the Final Answer. Congrats to gopher for getting it close though

Does anyone know why LH changed this rule? If they want to improve u11, they should consider going back to a 10 team d1.

What is ridiculous is that placement is based on how you perform in games against teams ranked 10-25 spots above and below you.

I am interested to know the lowest ranked team to make D1 or D3.

How about 50 teams - 10 brackets of 5.  Then, at least a team in the 20's would play a team in the teens and 30's.  Eliminate the winners and losers.  Leaving 30 teams playing for 20 spots.  A total of 8 games, mostly againt comparable competition, would determine seeding - no single game would make or break a team - not 3 games mostly against non-comparable competition.

Why are teams that went scoreless coming back this weekend?  So higher seeds can beat up on them again?  Roughly 10 teams scored 0 or 1 point.  Hope they enjoy getting beat up on again!

Can anyone offer an explanation why teams ranked 10-30 don't play each other for D1 seeding?  Or why the remaining teams through 45 don't play each other for D3?

Post by soccer chick on 28/07/14, 09:51 am

We played and got "beat up on" but are getting 8-10 games under our belt as we get ready for ppl and have new players on our team. Why wouldn't we want to play some solid soccer to see what we need to work on and prepare? Didn't score a single goal either but kept the mustangs to 0-0 in first half. Lol don't get me wrong they came back in 2nd half and scored five but we looked at our offense, defensive and middle line plus speed to the ball, 50-50s, etc and saw some great things we will build on this year. I understand why 35-50 ranked teams play but I did hear something that had me flabbergasted by a 50 ish ranked team after losing all three games as part of a parent meeting on the sidelines "d1 was our goal but we still have next weekend and d3 to look forward to." Good luck to that team and everyone else. I am sure the system will get 95% of the teams in the right place to "develop" or whatever you want. For us lh is doing exactly what we want. And bye - the "top teams " we played that made it through were classy........actually quite proud of them.

Post by soccerjack on 28/07/14, 11:48 am

It's funny to hear all the complaining about the results from this weekend. The FBR is actually incredibly accurate at 90%, but it is not perfect...no way it can be. The funny thing is there weren't as many surprises as some might think. Kicks has gotten kicked a little on here but if you look back they deserve D-1.

They played in the pre-seeding tournament and were the clear winner.....I know there was no cross bracket play, but they seperated themselves. LFS White, FCD White, FCD Central Premier, LP Raisbeck, Sting North all showed to be very strong teams, FC Premier was the clear Cinderella and showed they could compete at that level. No top tens were there but this is where the competition is for 15-30. Then you go to King Tut and FCD white plays low silver and Sting West Bronze. They both light up the the win and goals scored column. They may not have chosen to play in those brackets, but it is what it is. They jump over all of the above teams in rankings on both FBR and LHGCL. Then they both don't "get in"....don't think these results are a big surprise. GSSC maybe...they are all 10 and can have a bad day or a great day.
