Hurst United Turkey Shoot XXII

Hurst United Soccer Association

The Turkey Shoot Tournament is open to all US Soccer Federation (USSF) Affiliates (US Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer) recreational league boys and girls U5-U19 teams, competitive league boys and girls U11-U19 teams, and academy brackets ages U7 - U10 for both boys and girls. Tournament will be played November 20-22, 2015. Application and payment deadline is November 6, 2015. Schedules will be release on or around Sunday, November 15th.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registering by the deadline does not guarantee placement.

Some features to look forward to will be:

but with rain we get days and days of chatter about the "money grab" and "the fields were okay to play on" blah blah blah

20 minute halves and 11v11 for U10 academy... does this guy not read?

We've been holding off on this one waiting to see how other clubs around us and other tournaments are handling the upcoming changes specifically for this fall's season. It seems that most clubs have already made the change to 9v9 at U10 and most academy leagues are playing 9v9 this fall to be compliant straight through the 2017 mandatory changes. For this reason we will be updating our U10 academy bracket to remove the 11v11 option and offer only the 9v9. Thanks for the post.

Last year this tournament got rain and rain and rain. It poured and they did all they could to keep it going. In spite of all the chaos and disappointment by alot of teams, I heard they refunded alot of tournament fees to teams. Kudos for doing the right thing by that.

Sure! I'll post an applied teams link. A few things to remember:

Applied does not mean accepted. Just because you see 4 teams in an age group doesn't mean we can start a bracket. Some of the teams might be recreational. Rec only plays competitive if the team specifically requests to or is asked and agrees in order to fill a bracket. Competitive or academy never plays in a recreational bracket. This is also not an invitation to discuss seeding. Teams will be placed in brackets primarily by their points in Got Soccer and secondly by considering previous experience and age groups.

It is early. Most teams don't start registering until the end of league play, so keep checking back for updates.
