Girls Development Academy Clubs Announced

FC Dallas and Solar are the only North Texas clubs.

Wow. No Texans. Figured them a lock to get in. Assume they will be added on next round.

Seems like a lot of emphasis on coaching licenses which makes total sense. It's going to really start to separate clubs.

Quite shocked that only two clubs in all of Texas made the cut!

Look into it and I bet that there are a number of ECNL coaches that still rock a D license. That's going to be a problem. Honestly I've only ran into a few A's and B's so far in NTX

If you would have looked at DFW clubs 2-3 years ago, I don't think many would have given FCD or Solar a chance. Credit to the turn around for those clubs.

Yep, TX got the same number as CO and GA. No clubs from Houston, either.

11 full scholarships per club? That's good news if I'm understanding it correctly.

Is that the reason dues went up?

Well, it was initially communicated that the number would be around 60 Clubs.. And it is still a year away... So relax and wait... More to come. I personally hope for 3 in DFW, but I still hear 4...

Still shocking with as big of a state as Texas is and with as many clubs. Congrats to Solar and FCD for getting in.

So how does composite play into this? Isn't it being sold as the group of kids who will move into ECNL when the current ECNL group moves to DA? Crap!! Better find a new team before tomorrow.

It's interesting that the article cites that the deadline hasn't passed. If they feel that there are not 60 worthy Clubs, I hope they stop short of their target.

I'm still curious as to what % of ECNL players will want DA. You have to give up so much. But 11 scholarships per club average? Wonder if that will move % up a bit...

I didn't say NTX. I said all of Texas. There are only 2 clubs in the whole state worthy of such status.

Which is the shocking part!!! If it were NTX it wouldn't have been much of a shock but for the entire state to only have two...

How can Solar and FC Dallas put girls teams in DA and ECNL at the same time? I thought these were in direct competition.

Where will their #1 teams and players go? If they put their #1 teams in DA, and their #2 teams in ECNL, then ECNL suffers.

And, why is Liverpool never mentioned in any talks regarding DA or ECNL?

DA is every other age group. Also, if other clubs do not get DA spots, talent will migrate to FCD & Solar. So, players will be selected from at least 2 ECNL teams within the club and potentially from other clubs to create one DA team. The majority of ECNL players will continue to play ECNL, even at FCD and Solar.

They are.  LP is considered an integral part of Solar and FCD's farm system...

And each team is mixed age groups. U14/u15, etc...

The dust will not settle until about fall 2019.

This is going to be funny as hell to watch unfold.

Why would current girls continue to play ECNL instead of trying to be part of the DA? Looks like with the backing of US Soccer, the girls DA will be the tier 1 place to be and ECNL will be tier 2. I would be willing to bet most top ECNL girls jump to the DA at these clubs even with the restrictions in place for DA ( if they are similar to boys restrictions).

Why would ECNL put up with being tier 2? They should boot any clubs that are in DA.
