ECNL Guest Playing?

Hello. I was curious as to whether anyone knows if any of the local ECNL teams accept guest players. My DD is having a strong classic league season and it's crossed my mind maybe having her try out for ECNL. She is a sophomore at present so the clock is ticking on that project. She does stand out on her team and on the field. We are doing some showcases and camps over the winter, but I'm curious as to whether reaching out to ECNL coaches is even worth the time. If anyone has feedback thoughts insights, it would be appreciated.

My two cents. Reach out. The likely outcome is that if the coach knows the team they will invite you to try out or respond to you in some way. However since there are now composite teams the guest slots if there are any will primarily be for Composite kids in that club. What you'll be doing is teeing up for next year. There is an outside chance of an open Slot so it won't hurt. Assuming the Clubs who have accepted stick with DA there will inevitably be some churn next year in ECNL so your timing could be good.

That is a good question. The same crossed my mind about the composites but if the player is really good then the ECNL coach who wants to win could have an interest.it can't hurt. And if you have video, use it.

Thank you. It's great to hear a negative got turned into a positive with your daughter making the ECNL team. It gives us something to aim for.

Guest playing opportunities are not available in ECNL. You could become a discovery player but be mindful that a discovery player must commit to that ECNL club for a year. I would reach out to the ECNL coaches for any upcoming in club scrimmages they may be playing during the winter and high school season.

2.12.1 A “Discovery Player” is a player that is not a full-time member of the ECNL Club to which she is registered, , and is an exception to Rule 2.11 above. A Discovery Player may appear on an active roster for a team of a non-ECNL Club, or a non-ECNL Team of another ECNL Club. In order to be considered a Discovery Player, a player must be explicitly designated as such on the ECNL Roster before such player participates in any ECNL Competition. Discovery Players are eligible to participate in all ECNL Competitions.
